There is a creak in the steering column when I apply pressure (pulling the wheel down) and when going down a bumpy road at speed. Is this something others have experience of and does anyone know of a way to resolve it?

Might just be the clamp for adjusting the steering wheel rake and height. Release clamp, and move steering wheel up and down, then re-clamp and see if it fixes it.

Thanks But tried that already and it hasn't helped :no: The noise is coming from that sort of area though...

Just had a play around with the steering column and the noise appears to be coming from in the dash near the front wing, rather than from where the clamp is. The creaking not only happens when the steering is clamped in place but also when it is gently pushed at the top or bottom of it's adjustment.

I've had this for the past 10yrs.... ......I think it's the bracket thats flexing and the sound is part of thr well known centre dash squeak.....just above the centre vents....there is a howto in the fabia section somewhere as the centre vents need removing and then some foam needs inserting to stop bits rubbing
