My Scout

Featured Replies

Got myself a Volvo XC70, my Scout has to go I am afraid. Cannot afford both. Have a look on classified, and hand me a box of kleenex, I think I am going to cry...

Noooooooooooooooooooooooooooo, I was behind one on the motorway the other day and said to the wife "yep, that's what I'm having next"

I thought that you could now get the 4x4 with DSG or is it simply the 4x4 and not the 4x4 Scout? Sorry I'm not too well up on these as I never looked in great detail

Why replace a Scout with an overpriced Volvo that basically does the same thing for about 10 grand more?

It's a second hand Volvo (pre-loved?). It's a right place/right time moment for the Volvo, been offered one by a friend at the right price & it has cream leather interior, cherry red metallic, all the goodies, etc. Too good to miss I am afraid.

But I will miss the Scout!

You'll be sorry

Tyres! Scout ones are £185 each! Octavia turbo - £1500, Octavia DMF, £1billion.

OK, with you on the fuel though.

if you're spending that much on scout tyres get over to camskill.co.uk (uniroyals for £108 each, contis for £120 each)

After running the Winters the garage kindly put the most worn summers on the rear this spring which had the effect of meaning all four needed changed at once. Chuck in an imminent house move and cash is thin on the ground. After a bit of web research plumped for a full set of Barum Bravuris 2's from Tyre Shopper. With additional discount for ordering four I got reshoed for £321.

So far impressions are good, just as sticky in the dry and wet as any other tyre I've had, with maybe a tad more road noise, but not unbearable. A Czech Car on Czech Tyres, both good value!!

Have you got your pipe & slippers to go with it !!!!!

You are talking to an ex-Rover driver here, so I am well equipped for it already!

I notice in your ad the tax is given as £125 a year. Is that a typo? My '07 2.0L TD Scout is £195!

I went from Rover to Skoda. Help's develop a thick skin!

Not sure of the tax rates, but the CR140 Scout is 155g/km instead of 173g/km for the PD unit - its a worthwhile reduction with the new engine.

You are right, I noticed that about half an hour ago - I will change it in a tick. My RFL renewal is £190 pa.

Was that a Streetwise then? Still got a soft spot for them in the same way as the Altea Freetrack 4 - maybe it's the yellow paint option. Why Rover never applied that concept to an estate is beyond me. Hindsight's a wonderful thing.

Ah well, enjoy the change.

We'll still be here when you decide to return :D

I know what you mean. I think Clarkson was a bit mean about the streetwise but I always liked it's looks. No, mine was a basic 75 - bought new, cheap as chips as they Rover went down the toilet.

I did have a Renault Scenic RX4 before that so I think I must just like plastic cladding! B)
