Errr... Woke up to find my drivers side window open?

Featured Replies

I'm 99% sure I didn't even open my windows last night (came home at 3am), but I woke up and my drivers side window was all the way down... The car was still locked, nothing taken, but the clock had reset to 00:43 (it was actually 19:43) and yeah... Ross said there was a thread about this but I couldn't find it.

It's never happened before, anyone got any idea what happened?

there was a thread a few days ago called "whos got wet seats if i remember" apparantly the unlock button can be held to put all the windows altho i didnt realise the fabia did that ( mine doesnt ) unless it can be turned on via vagcom? my dads octy vrs does it, more times he has walked out to the car and every window down lol it may be something to do with that altho it was only one window which is strange, car maybe just had a brain fart lol

Fabia can't do it with the remote, but it can be done with the key in the lock in the door.

how do ya do it?

how do ya do it?

Put the key in and hold in unlock position to drop the windows, or lock position to put them up.

thanks :)

Welcome to the wonderful world of convenience system errors!

One of mine wound down all of the windows in the rain & snapped the cable on the offside rear. Octys can do it if water gets in the drivers door & corrodes the wiring or window motor connections.

My Fab used to swap the window button controls round regularly. Not good when you're trying to pay at the tunnel & it's the passenger side window that goes down instead!

My friends Fab winds the windows down instead of unlocking the car.

Incidently, with Octys, you can reprogramme the system to wind up all the windows to any height & close the sunroof with the remote. When opening. It will only open the windows though. Took just mins to do it to all my friends cars with VAGcom. Not sure if you can do it to Fabs tho?

ohh dude u have VagCom ;)

Wanna have a look on a fabia at the next meet?

only other thing i have hear is the boot lock sensor fail which causes this, one of the guys at work had a ****rat which needed a new one as his car would just open the windows whenever it felt like :D

On the Fabia's version of convenience, VCDS can't access the correct part of the module to adjust the coding for auto-close/opening of windows and sunroof via the remote.

You can gain access to it using the old DOS version of VAG-COM though, and a serial port HEX cable.

yeah windows can be controlled via remote using old dos version of vagcom and programming the correct module or buy buying a kvw100 plug and play controller

KVW100 isn't particularly recommended, as it makes irreversible alterations to the module. And the way it enables functionality isn't exactly.... recommended.

Also the convenience opening won't open one window.

Happened again tonight... Mum phoned me to say that my car had been broken into and that they've ripped the dash apart, stolen the number plate and taken the rear seats... No mum, the window is just down!
