Aerial problems (Still!)

Featured Replies

Evening all.

Having troubles with my reception on the radio. I posted a thread about it before, and Moggy kindly suggested a few things to look at, however, I think I may have found the culprit without having to plug into the OBD, or pull kback the headlining: The whippy bit of the aerial. I can bend it easily over 90 degrees near the base, and makes some strangeass noises when I do, making me fairly confident that it has failed internally.

So I ordered a new one on fleabay, but it doesn't fit  Reading up a bit online, and looking a little closer, it's the fancy anti-theft type (with a nodule type ting on the end of the thread).

Trouble is, I can't find any online to buy.. Tried all sorts of keyword combos :'(

Other than going to the stealers, can I get a replacement anywhere? Or do any of you kind souls have a spare you can part with (for ££ or beer or something)?

Cheers!

Have you considered a career in the adult film industry?

Dealer or scrapyard would be best bet, (for the aerial, not adult film interview.)

I'd have thought any 5mm thread aerial would fit and not having an anti-theft thing wouldn't matter?!

Yeah them strangeass noises are me Moggy!

Exactly my thoughts too, until I tried to fit the replacement from fleabay.. The thread is significantly shorter in length than the original, and it doesn't want to engage with the base at all. Gonna get the stanley knife out and see if I can get it to fit, at least to diagnose if it is the problem.

I popped into the stealers at lunch, they don't sell the whippy bit on its todd, and they want £31 for a whole unit. Told them where they could put that.

Will keep you posted.

So I managed to get the fleabay replacement to fit, by cutting away the rubber somewhat. Looks OK, but certainly not great.

It has improved the sound quality, but it is still not as good as I think I remember it being.. I think. :S

Thanks guys
