Retro fit DRL's - opinions?

Ch@vvier than a very ch@vvy thing, but then I even think that about OEM LED DRLs.

I-your-HO of course..... :p

Trouble is, any car built after 2012 will have them as standard, so better to join the 'chav' light brigade now and be done with it.

Remap now on and I am a very, very happy man. :D

And just fitted a rear torque arm insert, I did this on the vRS and was very impressed with the result. The same can be said on the Golf, it has reduced engine rock significantly.

You did ask for opinions. :moon:

Good stuff.

Interesting on the torque arm too, was thinking of this myself. Any noticeable increase in vibration at all from it? And where from, and how much? :)

No vibrations, yet.

Things feel more 'solid' under acceleration, the mount changed slightly in 2008, but if yours is older than that, this is the one you need.

Cheers. That's the one I thought, as it's the same PN listed on JKM's site for diesel application emoticon-0148-yes.gif

Easy to swap?

You mean 2011?

European Union Directive 2008/89/EC requires all passenger cars and small delivery vans first type approved on or after 7 February 2011 in the EU to come equipped with daytime running lights. The mandate will extend to trucks and buses in August 2012. The EU Directive requires that the DRL function must be produced by functionally specific lamps meeting the requirements of ECE Regulation 87 and mounted to the vehicle in accord with ECE Regulation 48. Functional piggybacking, such as operating the headlamps or front turn signals or fog lamps as DRLs, is not permitted

Honestly? It took longer getting the car on th ramps than it did to fit the insert. I had to remove a few screws from the engine tray, just enough to flex it out of the way (iirc the Octavia's tray doesn't extend as far so shouldn't be a problem). The bolt was VERY tight infact I had to use the trolley jack handle as extra leverage on the rachet. Once this was out its 2 minutes to grease up the insert and slip it home.....ooooer! Bolt in, engine tray secure and volia.

You mean 2011?

If your car is newer than mid 2008 you need this mount. I confirmed which one I needed by laying the camera under the car and taking a picture of the mount, below shows the differences........

Ok, so the remap has been on for about 40 miles and while it's definitely better I'm not blown away, should I be?

I don't know but you need to move/upload your signature again into Photobucket as it's missing!:giggle:

Thanks.........for nothing!! :moon:

Photobucket, Hmmm! I organised my pictures into folders yesterday and I have now realised that the file name will be different! As a result I have just spent the last hour trawling through my posts on here and the mk5 forum adding the missing link to re-insert the picture, probably need to spend another couple hours to completely sort it out.........I think there's a lesson here. :S

Doesn't the ecu take a while to adjust everything? Could be wrong but thought I'd heard that somewhere...
