Instrument panel failure

Featured Replies

We have an x reg Octavia, Great car, fuel efficient and solid. Last year the lights on warning failed and an icon appeared later (car shaped with key shape in middle) meaning the car wouldn't start and you had to get out lock, unlock and start again. Recently the instrument panel started to work off and on. Took it to Skoda (round trip of 250 miles) and they did nothing! Confused! Can anyone help?

By the way, I don't know much about cars!

lack of dash guages - iirc, pull fuse 15 and it will work, but will forget the trip figures once the ignition is turned off.

The fault is normally caused by a dryjoint on one of the voltage regulators on the PCB in the dash.

Have a read of this: http://briskoda.net/forums/topic/97295-instrument-panel/page__view__findpost__p__1200974

The immobiliser fault could be caused by the pickup loom being faulty. Or maybe the key, did the fault appear with all keys.

:giggle: Can't be often that is said. I had better print this out, and laminate it and display it on my desk at work

I think the immobiliser issue is more then likely just the dash itself, as the immobiliser ecu is in the dash if that looses power so does the control unit.

Replaced quite a few for this, pretty common on early pre facelift Octavias

Cool, I did not know that about the immobiliser ecu, will try and remember that one.
