either 100? or 110hp no major faults and mega milage if looked after, also good for some tightfisted tuning for a bit more go, take a look at old golfs on http://forums.tdiclub.com only problem ALL Seats have a hard ride unless the shocks are shot :-(

Can't agree with that - I've got an X reg Toledo 1.9TDi with 125k miles on the clock and the ride is terrific....

TDI = Turbocharged Direct Injection, so yes it will have a turbo.

even the Ibiza sport has a nice cumfy ride.

I'm pretty sure they didn't make a tdi model on the 1998 model, I think they only diesel ones were the 1.9 sdi unit from a 6n polo

they did D, SDi and TDi versions post-facelift

They did do a TDI of the Ibiza, since the chassis was based on the Mk3 golf it would fit in the engine bay, unlike the Polo of the time which only had the 1.9D as the TDI wouldn't go in.

That was unless you bought the saloon, which is the same car as the Ibiza anyway, just with SEAT crossed out and VW written instead.

i think its a 90,but i dont feel any turbo working on them..and engine is a bit noisy..thanks guys by the way..
