Radio code

Featured Replies

Hi all, wifey's Fabia's battery died last week and now the car radio is in "safe" mode (ie: not working!)and looking for a code.

Battery was not disconnected from the vehicle and according to the handbook the radio should communicate with

the car and continue working in this case.

Rang Pilsen autos and the response I got was "sure, bring it down and we'll recode it for you, it'll cost you €40"

This is leaving a bad taste in my mouth as it just smacks of a ripoff.

Anybody any suggestions?

If it's the standard stereo, it's coded with the ECU. Leave it for a few hours and it should recognize that it's connected to the right ECU and sort itself out.

As Sam said. Mine did the same in my Polo - came back to it the next morning to be greeted by the awful sound of Radio 1's morning show!

Bit of a high jack (sorry)

But I took my battery off a month or so ago, reconnected it and it was showing SAFE on it (standard radio).

lost my code so went to skoda to get it. Everytime they or I enter it it goes to SAFE 2. they said keep at it for a bit and if the problem persists then they will get technical involved.

Can anyone shed light on this as I really cant be bothered giving my car to skoda all for a dodgy radio?

Stephen
