First service ...

Featured Replies

I've gone for the variable service intervals approach, and just had the first one done today at 18280 miles. Grand total of £241 and some pennies including VAT. Had a little petrol Fabia courtesy car while they did the work, I'm guessing the base model since it wasn't very well equipped or refined; buzzy little thing but quite fun once I got used to it - very light at the front end. Also acquired (on the instructions of her indoors) roof bars and cycle racks, which no doubt I will be ordered to fit before we go on holiday next month.

I wonder what they do for that? My first fixed service at 9500 cost just under £95.emoticon-0112-wondering.gif

I'm sure this has come up before on Briskoda (though I can't remember where).

The "full fat " service at around 18/19000 miles has a lot more in it .

The annual one is more or less just an oil change?:smirk:

I had the first service done at around 21k and it cost me roughly £140 including new wipers.

I'm aware of that, just wondering what the 'full fat' consists of......(my Octavia was on variable before my Yeti, but I wasn't driving around London then)

That's the benefit of living in a third world country Graham, lower labour costs. :giggle:

You'd better get ready to duck ;)

Aye, BobDog, duck or grouse, or ewe wont have a cat in hell's chance of avoiding Graham's pig in a poke of wrath. He can be a real cow when angered. You could, however, be a lamb and bleat an apology. Or a bull in a china shop and keep going.

ENOUGH ENOUGH.

Dim worrio!

I think as he pays around £100 less for a full service than the rest of us then he probably wont give a stuff. He will be too busy laughing and spending the money! Initial quotes in the North East are £250 for a full service so I'm not a happy bunny.

Yup, there are three Skoda garages within reasonable striking distance of me in W. Yorks, all owned by the same group; monopoly power. The one I used is 10 minutes from where I work in Bradford. Not sure I can be hassled getting up and driving an hour in the wrong direction (towards Manchester), then an hour back to work, in the morning ... and the same in reverse in the evening. Once I've taken the fuel costs out of that, what I might save (assuming the Mancs garages are cheaper, and I wouldn't bet on that) isn't worth the time.

Bobdog - that type of monopoly was one of the reasons why I moved away from Volvo. The whole NE Volvo region is served by the same dealer and so servicing costs were high. That feeling of being stuffed tends to stick in my throat. The benefit of Skoda is that at least the intervals are fairly high, around 18,000 miles for me, and so servicing will not happen very often.

Whhhhoooooo there!!!

Just had my Superb 170 4x4 in for it's 1st Service (yesterday) at Pullman VW Durham - £152 (around 18,000 miles) inc Everything!

Remember, you are driving a VW - they (Pullman) are trying to undercut Skoda (initial price should have been around £210) but they offered half-price labour on Skoda cars.

Benfield Newcastle were iro £220 and i never got a price from Silbury...

Ring around, get prices, dont just take the 1st offer!

Al.

Thanks for the tip.

Been thinking the same thing, maybe worth getting a price from my local VW dealer; quite happy with them when they looked after the Golf for service but like most dealers fault finding was the Achilles heel.
