Fabia VRS Won't start? Flashing red oil light..

Featured Replies

Hi,

Came to start my fabia today, and it wont start, it will just keep turning over? and after a few times of trying the flashing red oil light starts coming on.

The range on the fuel shows 60 miles range, and the needle does raise as well,

However the previous owner did say that when the fuel goes low (Below half) it does cut out, but the cars showing fuel?

Any advise on this?

You will get the flashing red oil light as the computer is expecting the engine to be running by this point and producing lots of pressure. Shouldn't be a worry.

Why not get some fuel put into it and see what happens then. If there is air in the system then you will need to turn the engine over a bit to prime the fuel system and get it to fire.

Below half???

Sounds a bit iffy to me if the car won't start on half a tank. I'd be getting the fuel pump and the lines checked if it was me.

Prob a stupid question but...... Is there oil in it?

Yeah guys there's oil in the car..

Well could it be feel lines? As it was working, and I'm guessing will work with some more fuel, maybe a faulty reading? Inside te fuel tank? Fuel sender?

Has it been VagCom'd?

Do you have record of when the fuel filter was last changed?

Right guys, put fuel in, about £10 worth, and it took ages, and i mean a good 20 times, but the car started, it also needed boosting..

but again if it goes down to 60 miles range 1/4 of a tank, it cuts out, as if theres no fuel. so im guessing the tank is empty..

any ideas on whats messing up the fuel reading?

Bump

id take the tank senser out and check its registering its full range.

I think you'll just have to check the lot end to end. So from the back, tank sensor, fuel lines, filter, fuel pump...

i'd wager it's likely to be the pump or lines leading to the pump, or the tank itself (or as Tech1e quite rightly pointed out, it could very likely be the fuel sensor saying there's fuel in when the tank is empty!).

As a work-around in the meantime - if the car doesn't cut-out above half-full - don't let it get below half-full till you work out whats going on.
