Fabia VRS Handling

Featured Replies

I' n the same boat. Just purchased a 2007 VRS SE and I am finding the going round corners all a bit soft and wallowy. Mind you coming from a 480bhp Subaru with racing suspension set up doesn't help with the comparison!

However I am realistic and all I really want to do is upgrade/sort out the suspension and then go for a stage 1 remap only. So I have purchased the following:

AP Shocks & Lowering springs - from Damian @ DPM

Whiteline RARB - from Amber Performance

New front mounts & bearings - from bestpartstore Germany

Rear Cupra bump stops - from AVS

Full set of Powerflex front & rear poly bushes including dogbone & FARB bushes from Damian @ DPM

Hopefully that should go some way to stabilising it a bit - fingers crossed!

Theres a TPS at Brough Park mate, you can get ANY vag part there at near enough trade price... Just incase you didn't know, saves waiting for international delivery.

Thanks for the info mate - didn't know that. Can Joe Public just rock up there and buy parts off them?

Having acquired a 2005 VRS I was wondering what would be the next step to improving the handling for me to regain confidence to allow the Fab to be thrown into corners.

I have replaced the wheels with SEAT alloys (cosmetic) - these are still 16".

I don't want to spend loads. I don't want to go drastically low. And at 43 I don't want a ride that will shake my teeth out or damage vertabrae.

Any advice (for the car) will be grately received.

Have to say, bit of a damp day today, so first opportunity to see what the car can do in the wet.

Under steer, under steer into over steer, and wheelspin and ABS kicking in when really not pushing it. So for inexperienced could be really easy to get into trouble.

Watch out for the Front end is all I say! P Zero Nero's and it just under steers all day long in the wet, need a strut on the front end i think... I had the rear jabba added and it made the rear super solid.... now it dives into corners but the back stays solid and pushes the front end out :'(

Just had mine lowered on the a.p shocks and springs which has tightened things up a bit but in standard form it has to be one of the worse cars I've had when it comes to handling and stopping

I have all of the above bar the Whiteline, which I'd quite like next.

Personally I feel the car handles very well, almost as well as my old 182 Cup, just with less turn in urgency and a bit more roll around some corners.

For an 11 year old TDI Hatchback i think its pretty good.

I found the SS Strutbrace made the front end stiffer, but understeer worse.

TBH I didnt notice much difference once I took it off. However that was on JOM Coilovers which were garbage. I've not had it on since i fitted the AP's.
