Fabia and bicycles

Featured Replies

Hi all, I don't do bike racks on cars. Don't like them, never will do and far too much fiddling. I just open the boot, lift the bike in and off I go. I know I can get a full sized mountain or road bike in the back of a Roomster, now I'm wondering can I do the same with a Fabia estate? Do any of you out there do this or is the Fabia a little too tight. It only needs to take one bike at a time, even if I have to take the front bicycle wheel off. My local Skoda dealer doesn't have a clue and I don't want to scratch one of his cars trying....

Many Thanks in advance for any info you can give me.

When I was looking at buying I rode my bike to the garage and tried it in the back. It was a little muddy and the salesman looked slightly worried but let me go ahead!

I can fit one bike in with one wheel off, no problem. Have had two in with all wheels off and you could probably get four in if you wanted. Haven't tried two with one wheel off each but would of thought that would be ok.

There's a bike carrier that fits inside the fabia estate.

My mountain bike fits in the back of my hatch with the back seats down

OKAY I've DONE this experiment for you.

1) With front wheels off you can get 2 bikes with a the seats UP!!!

2) with the seats down i can get 2 Full size mountain bikes with front wheel ATTAHCED

3) With SEATS DOWN and the front wheel removed i can get 4 BIKES in the boot.

tried and tested all these combinations many times.

With the hatch i struggle to get 1 bike in with the seats up but have done 3 bikes with seats down and front wheels removed.

If one bike is your requirement then even the Hatchback should be sufficent for your needs.

personally i have always preferred the look of the estates over the HAtchback.

I think this may depend on the size of the bikes in question. I regularly carry my Mountain bike flat in the boot of the estate with seats down, but I have to remove the front wheel and it is much easier with the seatpost removed. I am 6ft and have frames to match (ie large). However I can get my road bikes in without removing wheels and have had 2 laid flat, I havent needed to have them upright in the boot yet but I suspect that I will need to remove the front wheel for this. There is no way I could fit mountain or road bikes in with the seats up without removing both wheels and the seatpost!!

Here here, wheel and seatpost removed and rear cover removed and RH seat squab removed and RH seat lowered. I have made a wooden DIY carrier for my Estate.

Tony :(

I can manage to get my Mountain Bike (24 inch frame) and a full size mountain bike on top of each other in the back of my estate without removing wheels and seats, it's a bit tight but they fit.

Might have to look into the cycle carrier for the estate through.

skoda and bikes?

first i thought was this

I get my moutain bike in the back of my Fab but it is a struggle.

My bike goes in if I take off the front wheel and fold the seats down.

Also found it makes a great aircraft carrier B)
