Skoda Named Top Manufacturer for Reliability, Quality etc etc...

Featured Replies

Notice this today...and seems in line with all the other surveys. Not bad eh! And just to be clear...this is the Manufacturers award based on Vehicle Quality & Reliability, Vehicle Appeal, Dealer Service & Customer Satisfaction, Ownership Costs,...

That's great but I'll bet if the survey was on build & delivery times it would be a different story.

I've got a Fabia Estate 1.2 GLII on order that's somehow taking 8 months to build. Exchanges with Skoda Customer Services haven't yet given me any hope of an earlier supply date and, more importantly, they've given me no reason not to cancel and go elsewhere.

I seem like odd man out here, I`m only on my first Skoda but delighted with it  just over a year old,no rattles bangs etc, comfortable, very quiet and very economical ...Build quality is very good. Skoda still make in their home country using their own people who have a pride in their biggest export earner staying respected...It earns both money and repect...,,Its just that I think they need a much bigger factory because the bike shed presently in use just cant cope   VW are envious of the Skoda reputation and awards they win and I sometimes wonder if the delays are deliberate to give their marque a bigger chance

Anyway just have to make sure I order my next Skoda well in advance

Harry, that's a heck of a wait. Not sure I'd be able to wait that long. But...on the other hand, I think the wait will be worth it. When you drive some of the other cars out there as I've been doing lately (brother in law is changing and knows nothing about cars!) it's easy to see just how bad some manufacturers new motors are, and I include in this Vauxhall, Nissan and Peugeot, several of each brand driven in the last month in an effort to see if there's anything out there to match Skoda build. Sadly, there isn't anything we've found yet...just rattly shakey motors that creak and have poor design features in the car and under the bonnet. My brother in law has a thing about driving a Skoda. He's a badge snob. He currently drives a VW Passat estate with DSG. It's been a wholly bad experience with the car breaking down regularly, it also shakes and rattles, uses massive amounts of oil and in general is the biggest disappointment he has had. I keep trying to persuade him to try the Superb which is a different cup of tea. I drove one last week...it was heaven. Oh...if you check, the manufacturers award to Skoda takes into account the quality & build of their cars and the number of claims per 1000 units. It's just about the lowest of any manufacturer and up there with Lexus and ahead of everyone else.

Paully, you are not alone. My earlier post, whilst true, is a humorous one about the defective badge. This is my first Skoda, and it's been brilliant and still is.

I think in general this site is testament to how good Skoda and their cars actually are. People who populate internet sites tend to be motivated by disappointment, dissatifaction etc which is why when you search something you always come across horror stories, skewing the truth about a product or whatever. The bulk of forum members seem generally happy.

Skoda are pretty damned good when compared with their peers and the cars are excellent value and good quality. My statement earlier is that there are an increasing number of dealers that are starting to behave like your typical large franchise, the worse ones being those that have changed from another franchise or those that are part of a large group. The smaller businesses that have given by far the best customer care previously are now the ones that have been priced out of the franchise by VAG. This has happened to 2 that I have used in the past although fortunately one has continued succesfully as an independant.
