See me home lights?

Featured Replies

Hi,

Not sure if this is even called " see me home lights" on a Skoda but I hope you know what I mean! I am getting a FL VRS without Maxidot, is there any way of getting the dealer to set up the function whereby the LED running lights stay on for a while after the car has been locked or vice versa. Hope this makes some sense!

Thanks,

Chris

Someone with VCDS can sort this for you. Check out the members map.

Yes this feature is widely available across the VAG range and is often referred to as coming / leaving home lights.

I'd hope your dealer would be willing to set this up for you for free prior to delivery.

Don't think you can use the LED DRL's though, this feature normally uses dipped headlights, although it is possible to use the front fog lights instead (less drain on the battery and prolongs the life of xenons if fitted).

Thanks for that! So you think if I ask the Garage when I collect it they will be able to do it? Any Idea on how long it will take? Can they make it run on the fog lights?!

Its a normal VRS so doesnt have auto lights will this make any difference?

Sorry if spelling is poor im on my phone!

Thanks!

If your car is an FL (>9 0n) and doesnt have Auto lights..it cannot be programmed to have Coming Home lights...<9 models can be

Check out this thread, in particular post number 6.

It would seem that on a FL without auto lights you may struggle with the coming / leaving home lights.

Are you buying your vRS from a Skoda dealer? If so they can hook up your car to their computer and make all the changes you require within minutes.

Be warned though a lot of dealers are not as clued up about the products they sell as they should be and some struggle with even the basics. Good luck!

It is a "60" plate and doesnt have auto lights so im guessing thats a no go? Im picking it up from Winchester dealership on Friday! Very excited!

Mine is a 2010 vRS with no autolights - i have coming home function - was programmed by someone other than Skoda through VCDS - Skoda are a bit clueless when it comes to coding. All i wanted was cornering fogs and coming home - they said they did it but had not.

:)

Have them now though. :D

Sounds promising! I live near winchester, is it worth seeing if the dealer could do it? Or does a friendly local have the right equipment?!

Which lights do you use? Front dogs, drl or dipped?

I dont think there is a choice of lights - its the dipped headlights that are used.

Cornering fogs use well the fogs.

They might tell you that its a factory option only and on other models - but you're not asking for that - just the function through VCDS and the existing fogs.

The coming home function requires you to turn engine off flash main beam once and then take the keys out and get out of the car.

Parking lights use the DRL's btw.

I had this function activated with VCDS and it appears as ticked in the MaxiDot menu BUT it doesnt work

I had this confirmed by Ben at Shark Performance that this function doesnt work on the FL

So....You are saying it does by this method...?

CH / LH lights have the option of using the front fog lights, haven't seen anything in VCDS to let you use the DRL's though.

(I have yet to try this on a FL Octy, but I have activated it on several 2010/2011 Yeti's and Superb's - all 4 cars have auto lights though)

yup

read it on a golf R32 forum and it works for me. day or night.

Thanks for all the information! So if I understand this, there seems no clear answer!? Can I "tell" the dealer it will work but they need to activate it?!

Forget the dealer! Find a member with VCDS instead.

I assume it won’t affect the warranty?! What the best way of finding someone around basingstoke?!

Take some screen shots from this clip and then they will be less likely to try and tell you it can't be done!

Great video thank you! So assuming they can do it and it works, will they turn on all the time i.e during the middle of the day?

To be honest mate I think this thread proves that no one is 100% sure of if it works or how or when.

There are quite a few influences such as pre-facelift, post facelift, with maxidot, without maxidot, with the rain sensor, without the rain sensor, with auto lights, without auto lights etc.

My recommendation would be to take as much of the information you have collected on here with you when you go to collect the car. Ask them to make the changes you require.

For the ones they are unable or unwilling to do I'd then look to find a friendly local member with VCDS who I am sure will give it their best shot.

Finally once you have it all figured out come back and update this thread to prove or disprove it once and for all :giggle:

+1

He doesn't activate the fog lights for CH / LH in the video though! (that was already ticked!)

Cheers mate, I will so as you say and see what Winchester can do! Is there anything else while im having the conversation that is worth asking them to switch on/off?

2nd fog rear light is a good one, check if the dealer has changed to fixed servicing if you wanted variable (some dealers are doing this - naughty naughty).

DLR's if not enabled - common on non-VRS.
