See me home lights?

Featured Replies

Get anti hijack activated if it isn't already and get the really annoying seatbelt warning chimes turned off.

He doesn't activate the fog lights for CH / LH in the video though! (that was already ticked!)

So it can still be used to show the dealer what needs to be done then!

It is a "60" plate and doesnt have auto lights so im guessing thats a no go? Im picking it up from Winchester dealership on Friday! Very excited!

Winchester? I have got all my Skoda's from them. Who are you dealing with there? Sean always does good when I require things, sorted out a few bits for my recent Octavia and made a few things happen with regard to my vRS Fabia too!

Thanks for that, so far winchester have been fantastic, I will hunt out Sean when I pick it up!

No, if the dealer follows that video then you will still not have CH /LH fog lights, all he enabled was "Xenon headlights with shutter without additional high beam installed" plus dealers do not (officially) use VCDS they use VAS - which is totally different.

Not according to alberg who has managed to activate his front fogs for the coming home function using this procedure.

VCDS or VAS, who cares, it can still be used to show the dealer it is possible.

Since you know so much why don't you explain to us how it is done.

I have done several cars now (5 IIRC?) and these were done by enabling Byte 17 Bit 3, but on the video above clearly shows he HAS NOT just enabled the fogs, (unless Ross-Tech have labelled Byte 17 Bit 3 incorrectly on the FL in the video?)

When you see the correct Byte/Bit it is obvious which one to tick as it is called something along the lines of "enable front fog lights for CH / LH lights" (I forget the exact wording)

It will also make a huge difference to what software they are using - just because VCDS can enable them does not necessarily mean VAS can as well.

The dealers VAS system cant be fudged, and many features that can be enabled cant be if the factory build says it's not on your car. Come home lights is a classic example, as VAS will simply say the car doesnt have the sensor, end of. Diagnosis is also different as dealers cant test individual modules, and must follow the diagnostic stages in order.

VCDS works differently. It operates/adjusts modules individually and doesnt care the build spec or if a function was/is installed. It's why it is so valuable to VAG owners, and why caution must be exercised when using it as it can equally be dangerous. Such as the infamous top speed limit, which can only be adjusted downwards when set!

That´s correct, after I put the info here, the latest VCDS versions say byte-17, Bite-3 = enable CH/LH on foglights.

Now I myself never did a model without Auto lights, but if someone has done it, it´s because it works.

Like already said, try to get someone with VCDS to look into your car.

As I mentioned earlier..Mine does not work when activated with VCDS..Everything else does, including cornering fogs...

...but Leaving/Coming home lights does not.

Can anyone explain to me why?

Simbo tried to get it to work...

Ben at Shark Performance has tried also..and failed!(On another couple of FL models without Auto Lights)

May bee not just ticking the boxes with VCDS

You may have to see how many seconds it´s configured for.

I can change the seconds via maxidot, but if changed via VCDS nothing happens ( it will save the seconds introduced but will not change them on maxidot,or real life, seems like the maxidot is the master) ( offtopic, like autolock/unlock, vcds not ticked but maxidot has option)

you tried the flashing of the main beam after you turn off the ignition?

Well? Do you have it and is it everything you wanted it to be? Picture please...

Fantastic car, love watching people slowing down and having a good look to be sure its not an unmarked car!! Winchester were fantastic, will be popping in this week to have a chat with the master tech about the lights! I will post a Pic later in the week after it has had its first good clean!

My dealer told me I could not have corner fogs AND CH/LH fogs activated, so after I got home from having the corners done, I got the CH/LH activated. Took 2 mins!

Def worth getting chummy with your local VCDS expert and there are tons of things to do, I got my BIG MPH display on my maxidot sorted last week.

Let me know how you get on with this, especially if you ask for cornering lights to be activated. Before I took delivery of my Octavia vRS (with auto lights as a factory order) I asked for the cornering lights to be activated, only to be told 'This cannot be done'. I would like to know (especially at that garage - after they fobbed me off).

Did you manage to speak to Sean while you were there?

Regards
