Samsung Kies Phone Software

Featured Replies

Just a quic query as per the above re Samsung Kies phone software.

Apparently it is their software to suit my phone (cheapo GT-C3300K) but I'm damned if I can get it to recognise the phone. Have tried loads of ways, reinstaled it lots, treid different veriosn and tried a number of the numerous 'fixes' on the web (apparently it is a common problem) but it still refuses to connect always saying 'failed to retreive device information' or something similar, even though the computer and other software like Windows Media Player recognises the phone!

I'm now using Media Player to sync music and images but it would still be useful to get Kies working if only to sync calendars and save contacts...

Otherwise has anyone any other suggestions for suitable software to do the above?

Are you on vista/7?

I had issues when i didnt install "as administrator"

I had it work fine on 7, although I'll say it's not exactly intuitive.

Never got it to work and ive given up now. Tried every "fix" I could find on the internet but nothings worked to date.

Really annoying as the phone had a fault to do with wifi connection and had to be replaced and I couldnt get all the photos and video off the phone before exchanging :(

The Kies bag of nails was one of the reasons I got rid of the original Galaxy S.

In saying that, I'm about to upgrade again and the Galaxy S2 is getting better reviews than the Sensation so I may have to venture into the Samsung camp again.

I'll be watching gadgetman's other thread to see some more thoughts.....

Make sure you install as an admin and if you are on vista or Win7 then to run it, right click on the icon and 'run as an administrator' Had no problems on mine on Vista or Win 7.

Can't help only sympathise.

Kies is a crock of shoite.

I did get it to update my Europa after a considerable fight.

You can't install it under admin rights it doesn't carry the settings or even the text through to other users on the same machine.

And it's 100Mb+ and does bugger all other than sync the phone. Ridiculous. I think they must have been taking on failed Apple and Adobe developers.
