I like it - not seen one quite like that before

I'm impressed. Like Rob, I've never seen one like it before and wasn't aware that bull bars were available for the Octavia. I might invest in some to discourage people from pulling out on me.

I'm also a fan of the wheel arch extensions. I had a MK1 Golf GTi and must still think they are cool. I am a kid of the 80s though. I loved Michael J Fox's Toyota pickup at the end of Back to the Future. Your Octavia reminds me of that a bit. Good effort.

Thanks!

The bullbars are actually for an Audi allroad.

I also love Foxs pickup!!!Never thougt anyone but me noticed it!

Iam going to paint all the plastic matteblack.

Ive had the car since new nov 2004 and at first i was going to make it look like an RS.But with the winters here i Sweden its just not practical....so i went a completely different way!

How easy/expensive is tuning in Sweden ?

rsklubben.se translated

lol....really liked the scout when i first saw it.But i wanted to keep my car since its the first car ive bought brand new.So i built my own whith som cosmetics...

For the Octy there are loads of options here in Sweden and many tuners to choose from.

Its pretty expensive with the engine mods....mines stock right now with 150bhp but i service it at a local Skoda shop and you can void the warranty(its called mobility guarantee here,so if your car breaks down anywhere i Europe you just call and get help) if you uppgrade the software.

But my plan is to have around 200bhp anyway in the near future....

I had a plan to make it even higher(if possible) and put maybe some 15" rims and offroad like tires on it.....still think that would look mean B) but since i drive mainly on asfalt the 18"seemed like a better choise.....

I noticed today that i have a ratteling(?) noise under the car at low revs...i think its from the exaust.Read something about where the exaust i attached in the midsection kan rust and and break, causing this noise.I havent looked under the car yet...maybe heatshields? What do you think?

Mine does it too, i had to rebolt the heatshield to the cat before so I expect it is the heatshield above the cat in the tunnel on mine making a noise, must try and have a look sometime.I only notice it with the window open and low revs so it gets forgotten in the winter!

Can you get a lift kit for suspension then or you get custom springs

  • Author

There are liftkits that puts an extra 20-25mm on the car.I dont think you can go further due to the driveshafts.

We were only saying the other day that you don't get many cars on here recently that have not copied the same theme. It is very rerfreshing to see a car like yours and that it actually works with the style you have produced. Take my hat off to you. Well done...

you can just take the heat shield off if it is rattling. A 1.8T 4x4 with just a remap with see between 205-215 BHP

Thank you very much!

Ok,could there be any problems if you remove it?(if it is the heatshield)

Here in Sweden if you get a stage 1 remap on my car you normally get around 195bhp.But an RS from the same year (nov 2004)you get around 210bhp,but basically its the same engine basically....i dont get it.....

Does the 4x4 have the AUQ engine code?

Does the 4x4 have the AUQ engine code?

No its ARX.

From here:

http://briskoda.net/forums/topic/913-18t-150-180bhp-engines-difference/

I have managed with significant help from a 'horse's mouth' to have a detailed look at the differences between the various 1.8T engines fitted to the UK-spec Octavia with manual gearbox. The engines in question are:

AUM 110kW/150bhp Octavia FWD 08/00 >

ARX 110kW/150bhp Octavia 4X4 08/00 >

AUQ 132kW/180bhp Octavia vRS 12/00? >

I have not included the AGU (110kW/150bhp) as fitted to the Octavia 1.8T FWD between 10/96 and 07/00 in the comparison because there are a significant number of differences, including cable throttle, injectors, and the turbocharger. However that engine is substantially the same mechanically as the 3 being compared.

Previous posts have indicated that the ARX and AUQ are identical apart from the ECU, and that the AUM has smaller injectors and is less tuneable than the ARX. Read on...

The 3 engines share the same block, cylinder head, internal parts, intake system and throttle valve control unit, turbocharger, charge air cooler, exhaust manifold, injectors, anti-knock (thrust) sensors, spark plugs, lubrication system and fuel system (excluding fuel tank etc). Apart from the fact that the ARX (4X4) has a different return oil line for the turbocharger, and the AUQ (vRS) one different boot (rubber seal/pipe) on the charge air cooler, the 3 engines are identical. The ECUs for all 3 engines do however differ, as do the exhausts. Interestingly, the same clutch is used on all 3 engines (and by the AGU).

The ARX's oil line has to take a different route due to the 4x4 transfer box and prop. iirc it has a slightly different sump too - to meet up with the different angle the oil line comes in from - this is definately the case for the Brazilllan short sump ( the return pipe has to be re-fabricated to fit one these to a ARX )

If you are planning to take the car offroad, would be a worthwhile consideration. Underbody protection on the Octavia is non-existant.

The bhp figures you mention - 195 ~ 210 - are within the range you can expect from a remap on any of K03S engines. The final output figure is more down to the individual engine, some just have more to give than others.

Cool, never seen a short sump before. But i have the metal protection for the engine and gearbox so dont think it would help.If i dont manage to lift the protection somehow....i actually think that with metal its lower than with plastic....

rear brakes are hideous tbh, fronts could be ok but would need to see on car first

Not keen on the lights either.

Nice different look for a 4x4 and one that could quite easily be mistaken for a "Scout" factory spec.

However by putting those lights on it (either end), IMO you'll ruin that look.
