Water disappearing :(

Featured Replies

I have an 04 plate fabia vrs, and it seams to be using an awful lot of water. Ave checked the car for leaks and can see anything leaking or water lying anywhere. Any one else had this problem or have an idea of what it could be?

Expansion tank cap, thermo switch for fans on radiator, heater matrix, bottom corners of radiator, thermostat housing seal, head gasket (over pressure in the expansion bottle and combustion gases in bottle. Take your pick.

How much water are we talking about here?

Core plugs?

We put a florescent dye in the water, it's the brightest thing you've ever seen. If there's no sign of that then the chances are it's something more substantial...

Yup - If you can't see it around the engine bay or under the car... Then it's leaking internally and it'll not be cheap.

SamSam, have you got any update on this? A colleague at work is having the same issue with a 1.9TDi Bora... He's had it into VW a few times with no resolution... :/

Nope no update. It just stopped doing it. I'm thinking it just cause it had been really hot up here. But who knows am just keeping an eye on it just incase.
