Another Fabia 16v soon.. advice on engine care

You don't have anything to worry about, the engines early life is what dictates the oil consumption, driven too gently the bores glaze and blowby follows.

Old people ruin this engine.

Just something i think could back this up:

Yesterday i contacted another seller with a 2001 black 16v Fabia Elegance with just 53.000km on it.

He explained he got the car new for his wife, with a very relaxed driving style and did mainly short trips, ans was always assisted at local skoda dealer, just to point out his wife's car was in mint condition..

Then i asked him directly about oil consumption and he replied: "well it does use a bit more oil compared to your average car, about 1L per 2000km, but i was told by the Skoda dealer that this was normal"

So, i'm better off waiting for the green one, the one that got driven in long trips and probably harder, with its 1L per 10.000km consumption ratio.

It belongs to portuguese clubeskoda.com admin, so i trust what this one claims :)

I'll do a first oil change with Castrol 10w40 semi-synth, and after checking for myself its oil consumption rate with my short trip driving style, move on to a VW50200 5w40 full synth.

A final big BIG thanks everyone for helping me out with this, your help was PRICELESS to me!

Hope to post some photos of my "new" Fabia soon :)

Cheers my fellow briskodians.

I'd do the same as well!!!!....good luck with it! B)

So finally you come round fab, do you really have to fight me every time we post in the same topic?

Is your epeen so fragile that you must always be right even when there is absolutely no evidence for your beliefs.

I'm not looking for resident forum 'guru' status, you keep it, I'm simply trying to share what I know without any expectation of reward.

I'm also trying to quiet down some of the staggeringly retarded modders on here who are sytematically destroying their cars and who 'gang' up on useful posters like moggy with their illiterate pseudo textual meme-ridden mockery.

Youth truly is wasted on the young, but age brings little wisdom in the absence of understanding.

Confused?? :wonder:

I've come around?? eh...errrrr....no

The Op says he's going to do this......... "I'll do a first oil change with Castrol 10w40 semi-synth, and after checking for myself its oil consumption rate with my short trip driving style, move on to a VW50200 5w40 full synth"

You stated this (which is what I said was wrong advice bearing in mind the problems this AUB engine can have)

"Personally I use 10W40 semisyn for changes and 15W40 mineral oil for topping up since I don't believe in wasting my hard-earned cash."

And as for the the other bits in your post.... :wonder: .......are you having an "off" day??

I've read in the past that if you have the ESP option on a Fabia it supersedes the ASR and the button on the dash will either be ESP or ASR, one or the other.. You don't get both. So whichever button it has on the dash is what it's got fitted.

Methinks you are right.......didn't the Vrs get ESP as standard?
