Going to look at a car tomorrow (VRS)

Featured Replies

You walk away from those two and buy Car 3: Totally standard, one company owner from new with full main dealer history, above average mileage but mostly harmless motorway miles.

This is the car which will give you the best value for money, especially if it's a diesel.

and then you get over boost problems due to the VNT sticking from never/rarely being worked properly. either that or despite the FSH it's been thrashed from cold every trip and ragged up and down the motorway because the previous keeper treated it like a rental car rather than their car. you can't make any assumptions

. you can't make any assumptions

+1

OP, glad your pleased with the car, hope you get many happy miles outta it!

We went to look at the car, me and the brother in law in his PD seat, the car looked very honest not tarted up and never painted, it drove lovely sounded right so i paid my money and drove her home.

i'll be giving it new oil and filters asap. can anyone tell me that brand of cambelt they rolled off the line with?

As for mapping im 99.9% sure its stock and will probably stay that way, i'll probably have a chat with Alan fishburn about is next time im in Darlington.

Thanks so much for your input, and thanks in advance for the silly questions im going to ask in the future.

Right back OT. I hope you are happy with your purchase Lee, as you have worked in the trade in the past then you should know what to do, make sure the oil you put in is VW505.01 approved as that is needed for the PD engine fitted. I would have thought the brand of cambelt is what they had supplied to the line at the time, caution says if you cannot tell for sure when the cambelt and water pump was changed, then do it ASAP for your own peace of mind. Enjoy many years of happy motoring with your vRS, I did when I had mine.
