Clutch to floor with a bang

Featured Replies

Hi

I drive a Skoda Octavia SDI 53 redg it is used as a taxi.

Last night when driving along the clutch pedal fell to the floor, through fear I just let it come to a stop and left it, I can still find all the gears with ease which i believe is a bit of a bonus.

Anyone any ideas what this problem could be.

Thanks in advance

I think there is a clip which might have broken on the clutch pedal assembly. It is a pretty common fault - have a search on here and all will be revealed.

Try this (I know is for a fabia, but I think the same applies to the Octy) - with pictures: http://briskoda.net/forums/topic/164149-clutch-pedal-failure/

And an Octy specific link: http://briskoda.net/forums/topic/146861-1-9-clutch-pedal/

Hi

Many thanks for your quick response, I am going to have a look at the car this morning but spoken to a Mechanic who suggests it could be what you have said or the Slave cylinder does that sound right?

Thanks again

Much more likely to be at the pedal end (given the noise you heard).

I'd agree; if there was a noise it's apt to be a clip (based on having had this issue on a Citroen Xantia). Second choise of failure would be the slave cylinder though.

Either way, it's not a huge job.

we sell loads of pedals, there is a bracket welded to the side which holds the master cylinder clip and they are forever breaking off

I had this clip snap and its common ..my local garage replaced it with a sturdier one .
