Favorit centre console speakers

Featured Replies

Just picked up a cheap Pioneer CD headunit for the Favorit, but no speakers of course in the centre console. Are they 13cm size?

I thought the circular grille in the centre console was for air flow from the blowers? Speakers in the doors are usually 6x4" and screwed into the door card. I have also seen models with speakers in the kick panels. I think different years of the same spec also have different speakers. The 6x4" Blaupunkts that came as standard in my old GLXIe were quite good once a decent stereo was installed. What setup do you currently have?

In any case I'd imagine putting speakers in the centre console would mess up the stereo aspect of the sound. I'd aim to put speakers in the front doors. I think you should be able to squeeze some 6" speakers in (may need some cutting of the door's metal, not sure), and I would go for components, i.e. separate tweeters, as there is plenty of space available to mount them high up on the door cards, or even the A pillars, to provide a better listening experience. Most component speakers with tweeters come with a little pod you can surface mount, or you can make a hole and push them in if there's space behind.

The centre console I have does have mountings for speakers, but due to the cubby hole assembly, fitment is nigh on impossible. I did pop the door card off at the bottom, and found the speaker cables run in, so I've put some cheap 5" speakers in each door. Sounds ok, and at least I have some music now! Tonight's job is leads, cap and rotor arm, preventative maintenance gone mad.

Estates also often had rear speakers fitted too
