Rat Look

Featured Replies

You want to know what makes me :giggle:

If its not all BBS look the same and people think they are buying somthing different each time, its that they lower the car on coilovers soo low the can only cruse around at 5MPH max anywehre! then to add insult to it put a Supercharged Vr6 in it.

What a waste of horses!!

Now i notice you have put the people who ride air are the money spiners in the DUB game, but the Jetta will be getting air for 2 reasons.

1) i like the look of it riding low and clean

2) i plan to put something special in the bay, which means i cannot run that low, resolve = Air

I will be honist and say if i had the cash then it would go on fluid as i trust it a little more, but i dont see the point in spending the best part of a house deposit on Susspension.

And i dont agre that rat should stay rod, as there are a few bugs out there which look pretty good rat! there is one over my way, its not been left to rust but its not got a fresh coat of paint, few dinks, but is looked after really well and good on him i say!

I've seen this car in the metal and can confirm it looks every bit as awful as in the photos!

It was at VW Whitenoise last weekend, near Great Yarmouth.

No no youve all got it wrong, he's a genius!

Its a new look called the scrap look!

How did that survive the scrappage scheme???

octavia's aren't the prettiest of cars anyway...thats how to make it look even worse. certainly caught the attention of you though...which is exactly what he intended (probably...) :giggle:

Rat = can't be bothered to look after your car. An excuse to be lazy.

IMO of course.... :)

Stretched tyres?

Stretched tyres?

Depends what u mean. Any stretch or uber stretch at if you are sticking 195 on an 8-9 inch rim then you should be shot

Better get the firing squad for me then lol

mine aren't too bad :giggle:

My brakedown of the Vdub scene

To be fair, I havent. The last time I got to any car event was a RR day a couple of years ago.

Reminds me of this octavia forum of late!

You Don't see many "different" octavia threads it's all colour grill this and Porsche brakes that.....

Fair enough it's what works I suppose but how can you call a scene when your doing exactly the same thing........copying each other?

Where's all the stand out skoda's apart from steve's and des's there are'nt really any that break the mould or push the boundaries a step further.

I personally like the v dub "scene" and would rather rock those BBS's than some spiders!

Its not just the Octavia forums either, the Fabia one has been very same ole for quite some time with the exeption of a few.

lol, its all in the eye of the beholder though :)

The only problem with it is, they will have spent lots of time & money making it look like that

The best thing about pictures like this is the ability to look at What Not Todo

You're saying that Octavia originally listed has had lots spent on it?

Depends what u mean. Any stretch or uber stretch at if you are sticking 195 on an 8-9 inch rim then you should be shot

Asking more what it is, as never come across the term before so not sure what it means/is.

Fitting wheels with a narrower tyre than is generally considered safe and within normal handling tolerances....

A 185-section over a 8 or 9 or 10" wide rim, as an example. So the rubber is effectively stretched over the wheel.

How did that survive the scrappage scheme???

clawed & chewed its way out of the crusher by the looks of its, then probably ate the operator for good measure

Super stretch baby!

Basically they stretch the tyer wall to fit the rim, the only way to get lots of stretch is to fit the tyer on the rim then shoot high compression to blow the tyer onto the rim. Some people will use hair spray like they did on tg, get it on, spray hairspray in the gap then light it and.... BANG!! Tyer is streched to the rim.

I know its said above that we are all doing the same thing on Brisky but TBH, there quite subtle mods

Bit of power, Bit of engine management, Bit of Styling and the car is how it should of come out of the factory. I feel the modding we all choose todo is just what skoda should have done in the first place.

Dan, I think your car looks fantastic. Not OTT but you have added your own touch and at the end of the day it still looks respectable, until you get beached on a speed bump ;).

I think the octy is a respectable looking car so subtly works better for it. I can go to a job interview with a slick looking car but then go off the Dub scene in the eve.

It's just crazy how much some of these people spend on their cars though. When I was at edition 28 I said I don't see the point of spending £10k on modding.

I would rather put the money towards something that is nice in the first place and then add some of my own touches as I see fit.

Mods are mods simple! whether there subtle or not..

You call the v dub lot for doing the same thing but say it's ok for Skoda?....Sounds a bit like our lass, 1 rule for 1 and 1 rule for another :giggle:

As for spending 10k...I wouldn't personally spend that on mods either but some people do and with great results and fair play to them, if I had that sort of money to spend and it didn't affect my day to day living then I probably would do

I'd hate to add up what I've spent on modding cars over the years and how much I've lost out on at sale time because they don't really add value :'(

I'd love to spend on the vrs, smoothing this, shaving that, sitting it on it's arse over some crazy rims but it's just not worth it anymore.

Thanks for the comments about my car and at the end of the day all of us that mod our cars will do some mods the same and some that others won't but to be fair we all have different tastes so if we see something we don't like it doesn't necessarily make it wrong, there's lots of people that probably hate what I've done to my car and I accept that as you'll never please everyone,I have nothing against people on here going down the performance route and looking fairly standard cosmetically as its personal choice,I'm a fan of all car scenes and love modified cars in general and probably always will do

You're saying that Octavia originally listed has had lots spent on it?

I bet they have spent more than I have spent modding mine and I would say I have spent alot on mine (over £1k), its seems strange spending all that money to make it look uncared for.

"It gains admiration at the first glance, due to its classical, purposeful elegance, that has nothing in common with the different extravagances of fashion, that try to attract attention at all costs."

Skoda Octavia factory press release (1959)

I think this sums up how I feel about the matter...

I do like a nice set of wheels and subtle lowering (although mine isn't), and some subtle changes. "Subtle" being the key-word in the sentence (I've even used it twice :giggle: ).

Cheers
