Got a Roomster for a day!

Featured Replies

Greetings all,

I don't usually venture on to this section of the forum, but I've got a new Roomster Scout for a day from the local dealer.

12 miles on the clock, 1.6 diesel.

When it arrived at work I did get a few comments about the looks... I'm sure you've heard them all before. Most of them were not polite.

But then upon actually looking at it properly, the space, the boot, the ability to fit a spare under the floor (unlike our Yeti) I have to say that it's a very impressive little vehicle.

We are a passenger transport business and a lot of the drivers have said that it would make a great little private hire vehicle due to the rear seat space and boot combination in a small car.

I've never looked at a Roomster before. But I (we) are very impressed!

So, is this the unknown gem in the Skoda line up from a space/practicality/price point of view? :o

It certainly is and not just the Skoda line up. If you compare the interior space to the current crop of soft-roaders Pug 3008, Mitsubishi ASX and alike you will find a lot more interior space in the Roomster for a smaller set of exterior dimensions. As well as very favourable running costs.

There is a Roomster being used in Launceston as a licenced taxi, never mind as a private hire vehicle. It's a 1.4Tdi and the guy speaks very highly of it. I think he's up to about 140k so far.

We have 2 Roomster licenced taxis here in Guernsey, a blue Scout that has been on the road for a few years and a new white one that only appeared recently.

There is also a Yeti being used as a licenced taxi.

The "new" white taxi was new in Jan 2009 and was the only white Roomster in Guernsey for nearly 2 years.

The Dealer flinched when I ordered a white Roomster but was complimentary when it arrived.

Changed it for a white Yeti but will probably miss the tardis like space of the Roomster when I go away next month.
