2010 Octavia 1.8 TSI DSG problem

Featured Replies

Hi all!

Not posted for a while as Ive been quite busy and generally thrilled with my 15 month, 15,000 mile Octy DSG estate but recently its been giving a bit of a problem.

I can only describe it a a judder when its just changed into second at low revs, particually from a standing start and up a slight incline. It can range from being fine (most of the time), a slight judder, to a the car shaking so much you think it will stall. Its only ever in second gear and the problem is less the quicker you pull away.

I have it booked in to be looked at but just wonered if anyone else had come across this fault or any Ideas on what it may be?

Cheers!

I had something similar on my DSG car the other day.

I stopped at a junction which was on a sharp incline.

Tried to pull off, the car just sat there and juddered, even though I'd tried to put the pedal down 2-3 times. I even floored it and it still wouldn't move. Sat there and juddered.

After I think the 4th attempt it pulled off OK - but that was odd.

Hi thanks for the reply, never have the car no move off like that, Imagine that could be quite scary in certain situations. Mine always pulls away but the shakes and vibrates in the first 3-4 seconds of chaning into 2nd.

Also might be worth me adding that I had the car serviced in July and had the servicing swapped from variable to fixed. I can relate the first time I noticed the car judder shortly after the service and it has got progressivly worse, albeit at a slow pace.

Sorry your DSG misbehaving. At least you're under warranty. I wonder if the service may have something to do with it?

Please let us know how you get on.

Good luck!

It's going in this pm to be looked at, Im just waiting for the call 'We cant find anything wrong' after their 20 yard test drive! Ill keep you informed!

I have the CR vrs with dsg and mine has always done this. Its just as if the box has 'slightly got it wrong' ie, changing up too early making the engine labour a bit. It tends to be really sporadic and does not appear to be getting any worse as time goes by. I just put it down to a quirk of the the dsg system. Altough it does concern me a little at times.

BTW I am from Harrogate too (White Pre facelift VRS), I find Benfield to be quite good. Keep me posted as to your problem.

Had it in today and a Technician came out for a ride with me. Sods law says that after doing it every other time it goes from 1st to 2nd the car did not really skip a beat today. It did however do a little judder which he felt and agreed was a problem.

Hats off to benfield my fears of being fobbed off appear to been just that, only fears.

They have done a software update but the Service manager admitted it was unlikely to sort the problem and that the mechanic suspects a new clutch pack is required.

He wants me to give them the car for a week as before Skoda will authorise a new clutch pack a long process of checks and paperwork will have to be filled in but they are going to give me a loan car for the duration.

Ill keep you all updated!

Gorebush, Ive seen you around. You wont really notice me, Athracite Elegance Estate, kids sunblinds in the back, nagging wife in the front. Live on Jennyfields.
