Creaking/squeaking suspension

Featured Replies

Anyone got or had creaking front and rear suspension on a vrs? Been to dealer today and they just lubricated the joints (hasn't made much difference). Is this a common problem?

Should suspension arms and arbs be replaced?

I had this previously on an alfa 156, worn bushes and ball joints.

Vrs is an 06 (60k)

Octavia's are well known for having a quick groan from the front suspension, sounds a bit like the car has a bad case of the humpf about going over lumps! Tends to be the front control arm bush groaning can be "easily" cured by fitting after market bushes. I say easily as though not a hard to-do thing can be a bit of a pain.... Also isn't a definite sign of something needing doing mine has done it, off and on more so when cold weather, since new and hasn't yet needed the bushes replacing.

Had the same issue with my last car - replaced the brushes and all was fine......

My Octavia is a '55 TDI and the rear suspension squeaks like a a horny squirrel when going over bumps. I only really notice it at slow speeds and it's been like that since new.

maybe i'll learn to live with it then

Its the bottom arms (front) lubricate both front and rear bushes with wd40. Best way is to get a can with the red straw put the steering on full lock (then opposite way for other bush), and almost dribble the WD40 over the top where the bushes come into contact with the subframe/chassis and let it soak down overnight (leave something under the car like a rag).

The other way is to have them replaced but the new ones will squeak after time too.

Don't live with it, it is curable and the car seems to be so much smoother and feels better when there are no squeaks.

My original bushes passed an MOT easy but I put new ones in and cured the Squeak, it also cured the slightly loose feel to the front end. The squeak came back though and now I just lubricate then every couple of months (5 minute job)

Is there anything similar at back end? Mine often gives a sort of cross between groan and oink when someone gets in or out.
