Supagard...what do you think?

Featured Replies

The very nice people at Gordon Lambs in Chesterfield (see a previous post in 'General') recommend that in view of my new RS being black I should seriously consider the Supagard treatment. I remember from Ye Olde Vortex that someone else has had this done. Could it be you Studioman? What is everyones opinion on this?

Prices include V.A.T. and are

had mine done, as did studioman, who i believe was quite happy with it.

mine is red and i have to say that i was underwhelmed. i have consistently achieved *much* better results and, arguably, protection( even on my black cars )with good quality waxes and autoglym polish.

on my car at least, the so called 'gloss effect' barely lasted a few weeks. it is possible that the great finish on my car [i:bf0e098e32]may[/i:bf0e098e32] be due to the underlying supaguard, but i do really doubt it.

with regard to the interior, it may be a good bet but i've managed to spill liquid on my seats recently which stained them, so i'm not too happy about it- possibly wears thin?. also, the thing about the RS carpets is the colour so ground in dirt is more of a problem than fluid spillages and there's bug all that supaguard will do for that - my carpets are as mucky as your average RS owner's without supaguard. As for leather, do it yourself and look after it.

in fact, the more i write, the more convinced i am i wasted

Interesting what you say about the exterior. It was the paintwork treatment which caught my attention. I've already mentioned that I work for a carpet cleaning company and the interior treatment sounded a little like Scotchguarding which in our view is a complete waste of money ie it wears off where you sit on it, walk on it etc. Plus the smallprint on the 'guarantee' will usually exclude just about any liability on their part if you do have a little accident.

Still, I'd like to hear other peoples opinions.

Rich.

Rich,

Don't Superguard your car!!! :nono:

Try and find someone in your area that will 'Diamond Brite' the Car, Much better!

I had two cars one with each, and the Diamond Brite coated car always looked good even when it was really dirty. I also found that nothing really stuck to the car that was coated with Diamond Brite. Insects, tar etc were really easy to remove. When I got the next car I couldn't find someone to Diamond Brite it, so I tried Superguard and...... well compared to the Diamond Brite finish 6 months down the line, it was rubbish!!!

I know the Diamond Brite works because I had a body kit panel on the first car changed and it didn't get coated. Everything that was easily removed from the rest of the car stuck to this panel like glue!

You also mention them charging you for the International Security Register. I was told by the 2 garages I enquired at before buying the car that this was a standard Skoda feature! :? you might want to check that out.

james is right, it is.

and on the subject of supaguard, i have discussed this recently with a friend who's a bit of a car nut also and he too found on all his cars that a bit of elbow grease with good waxes is unbeatable when compared with these 'paint protection systems'

so rich, what's the decision? supacrap or not? ;)

Maybe not, going on the replies, but I'd still like to hear from Studioman. He's had his RS probably about two months now and unless he's polished the car since then he's in a good position to judge the results.

The thing is, I don't get chance to wash or polish my cars as often as I would like because of where I live, so any protection is better than none.

I run my Golf through IMO car washes  if it's been bad!

Rich,

I had my Octavia TDI Diamondbrited by Bickertons in Sheffield when I bought it from them new two months ago. I think it does make a difference in terms of stuff not sticking; my car is normally parked under a tree and gets lots of sap and bird crap falling on it.

Bicks are likely to quote you

Diamondbrite seems to be the one to go for. I doubt I could get it for
