Replacement air con condenser

Featured Replies

I hope someone cam help...

I've trawled the forum before posting this so if I have missed a "sticky" or existing thread, my apologies.

The air con on my 2006 reg MkII Octy VRS has failed due to a damaged condenser that is leaking coolant. The local dealer (Newmarket Skoda in Bannockburn) has quoted me £255+VAT for a new condenser and 3 hours labour at £55+VAT to fit. This appears to be as close to legalised robbery as I have come across in years.

I've found a guaranteed pattern part for £77 (http://www.hypershop.org/20-rs-102005-petrol-automan/after-market-condenser-for-audi-skoda-seat-volkswagen-16-1054.html) that seems to be very reasonable and only makes me determined to go elsewhere.

So the question is can anyone recommend a non-main dealer specialist in the central belt of Scotland that could potentially do the repair?

thats not to bad as its quite a big job most of the front of the car is stripped off. IF you find a cheaper condenser get them to fit it thats what i did on mine :)

What a star - thanks. I've called Craig and I'm waiting for a call back with a price. Springkearse is only 15 mins from the house as well - double result.

Good man, he's good at his job if a tad laid back at times lol

The quote was £255 for cash - what a result, half what Newmarket quoted and for factory part! If there is enough money in the pot at the end of the month I'll get the job done rather than waiting for service & mot next year.

Guess who is going to get all my business now?
