Uprated subframe bushes and bracing

Featured Replies

Im not sure if im in the right forum so feel free to move.

Why do people uprate the subframe bushes? What the advanages? Also subframe bracing? Obviously its to strengthen but why? How is it designed, ie fixing points etc.

Sorry if its all vague. Stumbled across the bracing on a golf forum when looking for some parts for a friends car.

Thanks in advance Mark

Uprating the subframe bushes stops the engine and transmission moving around as much (will have same effect on front suspension if that picks up on the subframe rather than the main rails). This has handling advantages, particularly in transitional modes (turn-in, swapping between actively accelerating and braking or braking and accelerating...). It will lead to more engine noise passing into the bodyshell though.

Subframe bracing is a can of worms though.
