vRS Depreciation?

Featured Replies

I've noticed recently that the mk1 vRS seems to have hit a sudden spell of depreciation! Has anyone else noticed this? I've had my mk1 for sale for £5800, then down to £5500 now £5200 and still haven't had any calls! Anyone else cringing at the thought of loosing so much money? :(

I sold mine 2 years ago, a mint 03/53 for £4500. You can now pick up 04 and even high miles 05 models for between £3-3.5k now...

Right time to buy methinks :smirk:

You think that's depreciation? Lol look at petrol hot hatches! Especially Civics :-(

Had mine for yr and a half and compare like for like its dropped avg around £600, range drop is between £200-1500.. tbh thats not bad.

I sold a 55 fabia Vrs for just under £5500 a few months ago with 75K and amny modifications and i feel it was a fair price

well looked after cars will still command a stronger price,

One sold locally at a smaller car dealership for £2495. A red 55 plate in decent condition on 85k

Ouch... I paid double that under a year ago.

Eh??

I'm absolutely perplexed by threads like this. The vRS was cheap new and has always been cheap to buy used. It's a good car and impossible to lose much money on. I bought mine two years ago for five grand - if it were worth only scrap today I couldn't really complain. People buy new cars and lose that much in depreciation simply by driving out the dealership.

Buying a Skoda isn't an investment for the future.

We gave 3k for a 54 plate 80,000 mile vRS the other day as a trade in, mint car with full history.

Any other mk1 fabias vrs's up at bowling green for sale at all?

Fuuny then that Autocar (10th Aug, page 710 this week site the VRS as a "depreciation dodger".

According to What Car valuation website our 55 plate VRS is worth about £4200 which equates to 55% retained value at 3 years (on a exponential curve). The only car Ive owned that has done bette than this is our Freelander 2 which had a 3 year value of 62%.

I think the VRS is a great value but all cars loose value it all depends on your personal wealth as to how much it hurts. The guy I bought my BMW from had lost £14K in 15 months !

I think they hold there money well.

A dealer near me just sold 2 within 3-4 months

One was black with 54k - £5450

Other was silver 73k - £5450

Got mine private red 80k 1 owner fsh for £3800 2 months ago.If I didn't get there the same day it was advertised it would have gone

Can't seem to shift mine too. Mines an 07 so one of the last to be registered silver 35k on the clock
