Injured by my vRS sungalsses holder

Featured Replies

Three weeks or so ago, I jumped into the car and didn't notice that in the warm weather, the sunglasses holder had dropped down. As I leant across for some reason or other, I really belted my head on the corner of the holder and cut my head sufficiently to need to go to casualty. Two days ago, I did the same thing only this time, I broke the skin but not enough to bleed.

Has this happened to anybody else?

Short of gluing the holder up is there another solution. I'd consider removing it and replacing the fitting with one frm another trim level if I could match the colour - looks charcoal grey or black to me. Is this colour available on other versions of the car?

Doubtful

not intending to be cheeky but id be looking at the thing every time i got into car if it had attacked me twice!

There's a bluetoth hands free thing that goes ware glass holder is, it's called blue connect and match trim colour.

Have you checked to see if you can repair the catch?

James

Replace the catch.

Superglue it shut

Sell the car and get a convertable

Glue your sunglasses to your face and nail the holder shut

If the catch is available as a separate part, I'll replace it otherwise it's out with the glue. Thing is, the catch is fine when I test it, even when it's hot - a definite positive action required to make it operate. Must be en expansion problem with some parts heating up quickerthan others when in direct sun.

The bloody thing only attacks me occasionally and I just don't notice it in a dropped down condition. It's got to go.

Nails - I like this. Convertible - the car will look rubbish with the roof cut off and then where will I put my glasses?

As above, glued to your face.

Thank you for calling the 'I've been attacked by my Skoda helpline'. 'You can end the call now or press 2 if your CD changer has kicked you in the knackers'.

You seem obsessed with the passenger side so sit there in future and get someone else to drive..

OTOH,

This has never happened me.emoticon-0148-yes.gif

Sunglasses what a poser, could be the car trying to tell you that, :giggle: wait until your medallion gets stuck :giggle::giggle:

I hold my hand up, I have done it a few times. I tend to leave it open when I have put back my glasses, so occasionally I have jumped to the drivers side to go to the glovebox and scuffed my head! Not bleed yet though :-)

I always bang the inside of my right knee on the cubby hole to the left of the steering whell when leaving the car.

It ain't half sore.

LOL is this a joke?

I never use the sunglass holder.. I leave me shades in the Pocket on the dash...Much safer apparently emoticon-0136-giggle.gif

i too have left my sunglasses holder open and leant over to passenger side, it caught me right in the temple if the kids werent in the car i swear i think i would have ripped it out!

Depends where my medallion gets stuck... That wasn't an euphemism of some sort was It...

If I hadn't been so occupied stemming the flow of blood from my scalp and cursing so profusely, I'd probably have done the same.

I haven't left the thing open - I don't have sunglasses in the car. The bloody thing pops open on its own at random when it feels like assaulting me on hot days.
