exhaust options?

Featured Replies

okay, rear silencer on my fabia is starting to blow. basically, what options have i got for "upgrade"?

ive already got a de-cat, and im running a remap, is there anything out there that will benefit my car on power? acceleration? etc.

just need to know what options other people have gone with, i notice there are a few for a vrs, but will these fit mine? and are they any good?

thanks in advance, luke

nothing will gain any performance..its all about what look you prefer.

As above, you could run a standard exhaust to 220-240bhp without issues. If your looking past that then the milltek is the only one with a bigger bore. If not, then it's down to looks.

may just replace with a standard until i can get a vrs bumper for the rear then (y)

what about a mufflerectomy(?) pipe? any benefits to this?

cheers

benefit it is cheaper and will flow well, but you're unlikely to notice on a PD100. You might like the slightly better exhaust note though.

Ive just bought a miltek turbo back for mine for the simple reason that in my opinion there the best exhaust on the market at the min, depending on what you want to spend tho really, do you have anyone local who makes custom stainless systems? Powerflow etc??? Youd get exactly what u wanted then

Am I right in saying your car is a PD100 not a vRS?

If it is, you have 2 options. either go to somewhere like Powerflow and buy a custom made exhaust that will fit without altering your rear bumper. Like this one: My New Back-Box

Or cut a hole (or fit vRS bumper) and fit an aftermarket vRS exhaust.

I don't think changing the exhaust makes much difference in performance, it just makes it sound more like a tractor (nosier), although the reduced back pressure will make the turbo spin up quicker (less lag).

although the reduced back pressure will make the turbo spin up quicker (less lag).

Which depending on the turbo fitted might not be the best thing.

Having spoken to the likes of TD on some failed turbos it would seem over spinning due to a lack of back pressure might be a cause.

am i right in saying that with a mufflerectomy pipe, my car wouldnt fail its mot? this is bearing in mind i already have a decat pipe fitted

also, i believe the diameter of my exhaust is approx. 2" whereas a vrs is 2.25" approx

is this correct? if so, is it possible, and worth, fitting a full turbo back system for a vrs?

thanks for your replies guys

I'm not sure about removing the silencers, but a Cat missing, may fail your MOT next year.

id heard about that. i was told stuff like lowering springs may also cause it to fail its mot?

i wasnt sure whether to believe this or not, surely it'll just kill the whole "modifying" market?
