Removing door handles and a few other questions

Featured Replies

Hi all, as some may no I had a prang the otherday and I am going to have to respray some bits (doing it myself).

The previous owner was a rinf wearer, because all behind the door handles it is scratched to buggary. How easy is it to remove the handles so I can get behind them?

Styling question:

What do people think of spraying the vRS grille slats in anthracite? Think I might do it tomorrow.

Mechanical question:

I can hear the SAI rattling so I feel it is on the way out. I have looked at the guides and get lost trying to read them so I have a few simple questions

I plan to remove the SAI, N129 and N119? I believe that is the three.

How many resitors do I need, what ohm, where do I buy them from and do they have to be the fancy ones I see people using or could you use circuit resistors.

What side of the engine is the ERG? pump on and who sells the blanking plate at the best price?

and when I re-work in the recirc for the dumpvalve where is the best place to cut in and what bits do I need.

Once I remove all the bits, add the resitors and the blanking plate, is there anything else I need?

Regards,

Damian.

all i would say is make sure you know what you are doing with resistor power ratings

P=V2/R

so with a 12V (assume 14V to be safe) battery, if you use a 5 ohm resistor you need it rated at P= 14x14/5 = 196/5 = approx 40W rated

I swear I didn't see half of that stuff last time I looked at those guides. It seems so simple now lol.

I remember bowders used three resistors. Did you use three as well? Because I have only seen two.

Does removing these bits cause any problems or has all been fine?

Also, how come you left the hardlines in?

I haven't had any issues since, no.

And the hardlines are out now - I did it in a few stages.

I am a little lost on the Evap and hardline removal guide.

Can't work out where it all goes.

BTW: The blanking plate I linked, will that do the job, or do I need to buy the really expensive forge one lol.

Do you have a link for the resistors need Mark? I followed Rob's links but there in dollars. So do you have a uk site?

That blanks for a diesel so won't fit, Clearly stated in the ad.

Buy the forge one 20 summat quid, phone forge direct tho to get a good price (ie discount) tell them your a briskoda member.

My bad, I didn't read that bit. Just read the title and thought it looked like the right bit.

I will give them a call later.

So as for the door handles. Are they quite easy to get off and back on or are they a pig?
