Re Map

Featured Replies

Hi Members

I am a new member and I am sure, this question will have been asked; but here goes.

I live in Cheshire and I am looking at getting a re map done. I am sorting out the EGR mod this week and a fitting a forced induction kit. However I wondered if any members have used Awesome GTI for re-map or any suggestions for re map workshops close to my area; that they can recommend? I am looking for increase in power and economy

Thanks

If you're prepared to travel a little bit I'd throughly recommend Shark Performance. Alternatively you can use their STS module and do the map on your own drive.

I was behind a lad whos vRS was mapped by Awesome at the weekend on the Cumbrian run. His car was smoking like hell on full whack and it was no quicker than mine.

Lots of soot is never a good thing and can cause premature failure of the turbo.

Thats the first time I've heard that one.

I've been running a very, very smokey map (on full boost) for the last 40,000 miles and it was run on that map for I don't know how long before I bought it. No turbo problems what so ever.

You're running a hybrid turbo though which is built to take a lot more punishment.

Smoke = High EGTs which on a standard turbo is never a good thing.

+1 a smokey remap on a standard turbo is not a good thing. However get the mapper to adjust it if you feel it is a bit smokey.

I always though smoke = unburnt(read: not burnt efficiently) fuel through exhaust caused by overfuelling on a map.

Every day is a school day.

There`s no need for lots of smoke, a little extra yes, but not a full screen, so I personally wouldnt be happy with a map giving me that. That`s without getting into the hight egt issues etc etc

Mine smokes proper bad, worse than any other hybrid I've seen go

If it's smoking then it's wasting fuel. Unburnt fuel causing high EGT which isn't good for the turbo.

This can be of two reasons. Too low a air fuel ration or too long a duration which results in fuel being injected while the exhaust valves are open.

i second using Shark using their STS unit you wouldn't have to drive anywhere to get it done, they are not that far away from you anyway.

I've recently had mine done, they really know what they are doing and very friendly.... and the map!! unreal, very happy.

Hi,

Thanks everyone. Fitted the 9mm gasket to the EGR yesterday and cleaned all the carbon off the unit. What a difference its made to the smooth running of the car. Air intake is the next mod

Hello Softscoop,

You may get a little smoke from a remap. However if there was excessive smoke there may be an issue with the vehicle

i.e boost leak. We have done many fabia vrs remaps and not had any issues with excellent feedback from customers.

Thanks

Hassan

Hello Rag,

We have done many remaps for the PD130. We have had excellent results.

We take into consideration, drivability and reliability.

We have seen good power gains and an increase in fuel economy.

Give us a call if you wish to discuss or have any other queries,

Current offer Awesome Remap £199.00 Inc vat.

Revo remap £238.80 Inc vat.

Thanks

Hassan

IME it'll be fine.

Check the prices of the major remappers but also, talk or email with them.

For instance, I didn't want to replace the clutch soon after a remap, so I got a torque limited remap through Jabba sport. I also had questions about accelerater granularity and a few other concerns.

BTW: If you haven't got one, get a RARB! Don't wait, preferably get one done around the same time as the remap.

J.
