It's a done deal!

Featured Replies

Just a quick note to say... The deal will be done Monday!

D.M Keith came up with this

vRS hatch Diesel DSG

3+35 £274 a month or £338 with maintenance and Tyres

That's roughly £2268 difference over 3 years and 60,000 miles.

I think I'll go with non maintained.

Tyres I can get at £75 each and service is around £200 a

Stupid phone

Yes so looking at I think I should do non maintained.

Say 12 Tyres at £75 is £900 plus 4 services at £200 works out at £1700 so I'd save over £500.

Thoughts please

That type of finance deal doesn't mean much to me I must say - as I have nothing to relate it to. Is that just a case of handing the car back after that period then?

So you pay out effectively £10k over 3yrs for the use of the car? Or do you retain some portion of ownership after that period?

A fellow vRS DSG driver.............great minds B)

Yes Wardy, after 3 years it just gets sent back and the fun starts again!

Also Brimma, you are correct about the great minds thing!

I've never really experienced DSG, is it all it's cracked up to be?

p.s Bry, water under bridge etc etc!

Agreed?

Sorted

DSG - can't praise it enough - you do lose a bit of involvement, but if you get stuck in traffic it's an absolute Godsend

OK - so what's the forecourt price of the car?

I can't really get my head round the fact that you've paid £10k over 3yrs, but then you don't have any 'equity' in effect at the end of it.

10k for three years lease, with a low ish monthly payment

23k for a new car, with a high monthly payment, sell it for 13k (if you're lucky) after three years

They've both cost you 10k over three years but your money stays in the bank with the lease.

Of course this isn't even fag packet maths, i'm sure someone else could do the actual calculations :)

Cheers for that Dave. Makes a bit more sense now, when you put it that way.

Knew there must be some logic in doing it this way!

List is £23k but in real life you can get the car for £19k, lease is great if you havnt got the money and want a new car every few years, it still cost you £10000 over three years

Yep, my guesstimate of selling the car after three years for 13k was well off though!

Just been on Autotrader and sorted Skoda Octavia by vRS, three years old and cheapest first, 8k for a decent miles one.

So the lease would cost you 10k over three years but you'd keep some money in the bank gaining interest.

Buying would cost you 11k over three years PLUS interest on finance. Assuming you bought for 19k and sold for 8k.

Businesses get the VAT back plus as they don't own the car there are other benefits regarding taxation that was explained to me by my boss but has since escaped my brain

I never understood the attractions of Leasing either, does seem a lot of dosh and end up with nothing at the end of the term.

It's only the same as PCP and trading in. Either way you'll never be aiming to own the car at the end, simply use it and move to the next.

Where are you guys getting the leasing prices from?

After many many hours on interweb thing, then finally got best deal at DM Keith just down the road!

Sometimes it's good just talk and thrash out a deal rather than going on Internet "deals" that then start adding things on price wise.

Oh dear...

Was just about to sign when I got a call from a broker...

Hello taff170,

We can't match the price on the vRS BUT we can do a 2.0tdi start/stop A3 5 door black edition at 3+23 at £266 a month.

Now if I get another vRS the tax man will continue to take £175 a month(p11d and fuel allowance)

If I take the A3 he only takes £92(p11d and fuel allowance)

What would you do?

This also means I can change car a year earlier which to me is a bonus!

All depends what you want the car for doesn't it?

Do you need the boot space the octy has over the A3?

If not then I don't see the VRS CR170 making sense.

A3 Black Edition, looks better, cheaper and you haven't just handed one back in.

I on the other hand have found a cracking deal on a Merc C Class Estate Sport Auto C250 125 Edition (bit of a mouthful) for the same price as my Mazda!

http://www.nationwidevehiclecontracts.co.uk/Mercedes_C_Class_Estate-C250_22_CDi_Bluef_Sport_Edition_125_7GT-32646.htm

List at about £34,000 for the Merc and List on mine is about £23,500.

There some cracking deals on mercs at the minute but most are pre facelift old stock which they want to deliver by end of september, then the price rises. Worth checking....

Edited by taff170

It's an Edition 125 which is current facelift stuff. Unless it's a typo.

Anyway, i'm just dreaming as I have another year to go yet!

Always end up looking for my new car far far too early.

I'm assuming the figures here and ex VAT?

That site is very expensive.

Go to contract hire and lease website.

Its abit like a go compare site and lists all deals.

Be wary of brokers who advertise unusually low prices though.

After 4weeks of looking you find that brokers advertise a really good deal but as soon as you want extras(miles in my case) the price rises dramatically.
