Fabia VRS Upgrade Acronym's

Featured Replies

Hi All,

Just read Matt's really good update for all newbies on useful mods for Fabia Mk1 VRS. Could someone compile a list of acronyms for some of the entries too. ie RARB rear anti roll bar etc. Not sure what things like Pikey are? Can anyone out there assist please?

RAG

I can only really see three obvious ones there:

SMIC = Side Mounted Intercooler

FMIC = Front Mounted Intercooler

DMF = Dual Mass Flywheel

SMF = Single Mass Flywheel

Any others you're wondering about?

ps. on the vRS the SMIC and DMF are standards.

BFOFMIC = Large Front Mounted Intercooler

Not modification related but hey, why not

ASZ = Fabia vRS Engine code 2003>late 2004

BLT = Fabia vRS Engine code 2004>2007

ESP = Emergency Stability Program

ASR = Anti Slip Regulation

EGR = Exhaust Gas Recirculation

Not native to the fabia but hey why not put 'em in

BOV = Blow Off Valve

HPFP = High Pressure Fuel Pump

ALK = Anti Lift Kit

Pikey = A mod that is carried out using parts not inherently meant for or designed that purpose.

Examples:

1. A slatted air vent used in building becomes a handy air vent for the wheel arch allowing better airflow through your SMIC :thumbup:

2. Most modifiations in the early days on Jason's fabia :giggle:

Pikey 1 & 2. Weight reduction mod by removing plastic from the OSF arch liner and foglight surround by Stanley knife. De-luxe version incorporates a B&Q vent or prestige version, an adapted Audi TT arch liner.

Ostensibly to allow greater air flow over the puny standard side mount intercooler.

Briskoda - Pikey = USA - Shade Tree Mechanic?

J.
