Felicia is a really good car, simple to work on on a DIY basis and they are cheap to insure.

Well our 12 year old Felly is still going strong, ad only failed its last mot on a loose CV boot. Good motors.

As with any car it really depends on condition and if everything works. Are there any advisories on the MOT that will need attention soon?

There seem to be quite a few on ebay, so check out the prices they go for maybe.

I bought a 1999 1.3LX with eight months MOT, 4 months tax recently for £360.

It has no significant rust but the speedo wasn't working when I bought it (cable was disconnected so the 86K miles can be taken with a pinch of salt I guess). Interior is a bit tired but really not bad for an 12 year old car. There's the odd ding in the bodywork here and there but its quite presentable.

Did plugs. air/oil filters and changed the oil myself when I got it and it has been very reliable for 2K+ miles so far.

Only thing its needed was a replacement radiator fan switch, which I'm pretty sure was kaput when I bought it but didn't cause a problem until it was in a traffic jam on a warm day.

I'd say the biggest problem with buying a Felicia is that most are now at an age when they will have had as little money as possible spent on them by the previous owner.

MY Skoda Felicia 1.6 gxli with two owners from new and a full skoda caffyns service history from new was a bargain.

it's top spec and pacific blue(my favourite colour) and it had 75,000 on it at when i bought it.

two little rust patches either side(now large rust patches, but still much better than most)

it had 6months tax and 4months mot all for £370!!! i did spend a year looking for a tidy sub £400 facelift model though.

and it's now got 103,000 on it and stilll a full service history(not from skoda though)

and it hasn't not once ever let me down and the only problem i ever had with the car was a to change a thermostat coolant sensor @7.16 from Topran and a small engine stalling out issue, after some engine work was done but that was an easy fix courtesy of the TeflonTom

I would thoroughly recommend one to anyone that wanted a cheap to maintain car that is reliable. and in 1.6ltr form also rather punchy for a small car
