TIntents anyone?

Featured Replies

Hi guys,

After making what I'm thinking will be a wise choice and going for the Superb DSG, I'm wondering if any of you are , dare I say it, caravan owners?

I currently have a trailer tent that will soon be up for sale and will be going back to caravan.

Do any of you own one and how are they as tow vehicles?

Thanks

Well, it's tow car of the year...

Read it here

We're thinking of a 'van to match our combi tdi cr 170 and were thinking of the Lunar Clubman 530 as the 85% ratio is almost spot on.

Nice van/car combo

To be honest, it's just what we saw in the dealership and it took our fancy, it was the 530/4 I think, maybe a 2007 model. The end washroom appealed as it makes for a more spacious living area. We've still got some thinking to do though, as we'd have to pay for storage, etc

As you're from Wrexham, I'd recommend Mitchell Skoda at Cheshire Oaks. I was looked after by Richard Griffiths. He even sorted out a weekend long test drive of the exact model I wanted.

Hi

I think you have made a very wise choice. We have the combi with DSG and it tow's like a dream. This is our first season with the superb, but for the past 4 years we had an Octavia which was a really good tow car as well. You should not have any problems weight wise as the Superb can tow max 1800kg. You need to clock 1500 kilometres before towing, but I'm sure that won't take long. At each site we have visited there is always someone that comes over to admire the car, so it's a great way to get talking to your neighbours on site.

Good luck and hope you enjoy.

Just out of curiosity, what tow bar set-up do you have? The Skoda version is a small fortune!

Changed my A4 Avant 140 Tdi for a 170 Superb Estate DSG last spring. I tow a Bailey Ranger GT60 540/6 six berth caravan.

I have found the Superb to be an excellent tow car. Way better than the Audi. When we go away it is 2 adults 2 kids bikes on the roof and a bit of stuff in the boot. The DSG is excellent especially on motorways with cruse control on.

So far this year, apart from a few local runs we have been up to Glencoe and Stirling followed by three weeks in France. I have probably towed 2000 plus miles so far this year with ease. And if that wasn't good enough the caravan is on site near the sea side for the kids and this morning my 50 mile commute to work came in at 60mpg!!

Don't be afraid to get a DSG for towing, it is soooo easy!! It will do almost everything in D, except the odd long steep downhill when you can select low gears with the tiptronic (I think I used it once in 1200 miles of towing in France!)

Fantastic pics!!!

Next thread may be a 'What do you tow with yours??' :D

We had a Witter detachable tow bar fitted at the dealership before we collected the car when new. Cost £425

I have the Skoda detachable. I bought my car 5 weeks old (it belonged to the boss of the local Skoda garage) and was already fitted with the towbar!!
