Alarm Problem

Featured Replies

Unlocked the car tonight on the keyfob as usual to run a family member home and noticed that both flashers started flashing. I hadn't touched anything at all at that stage, so got out, locked and unlocked again. However, had only been back a few minutes when we heard the siren go off and flashers flashing. Have thoroughly checked the interior for moths etc, but it has gone off yet again. Luckily it is in a locked garage, so can leave it unlocked until daylight tomorrow to carry out more tests. the vehicle is 2 years 6 months old, so I think that the Skoda warranty has expired, but believe that the dealer adds a further year. We've been a bit unlucky in this respect because I've been in before with obscure electrical faults, i.e. tailgate not locking properly, but our dealer will always deny any fault found! Has anyone had similar alarm problems, and what is the "dog switch" mentioned in another members question a couple of years agao please? I've never been shown this, but suspect that if I want to leave the car anywhere, I'll have to find it in order to stop the alarm problem until I find a cure.

Thanks

Peter

I bought my Roomster in Wales with just 2 months left on the 3 year warranty.

I found the series resister on the ventilation fan was faulty.

I took it to my nearest English Skoda dealer, and after looking at the car to confirm what was faulty , did the repair in the last month of warranty , no problem at all.

So take it to your nearest dealer , hopefully there wont be a problem getting it sorted for free.

My Roomy is only 4 months old but I had a pair of alarm faults. Both of them due to insects flying on sensors, I believe, since in both cases I had left all windows a bit open. In the second case (under a strong sun) I also experienced a momentary failure of the remote operated windows opening. If it is a very occasional situation I would not mind. emoticon-0144-nod.gif

Thanks both for your replies. The passenger side window had been opened a bit on the outward journey so an insect could certainly have caused the problem. Also, I discovered this morning, after doing battle to get into the remote zapper on the key fob, that the battery was down to around 2.8V after two and a half years use. I replaced it, relocked the car and it has been fine since then. So either a corrupt zap upset the alarm, or the insect causing the problem popped it clogs overnight trapped inside somewhere!

I'll keep an eye on it in case I spot another possible cause, and pass it on to the Forum.

Thanks,

Peter

There should be a button on the driver's door to disable the movement sensors. Or if you press the lock button twice when you lock the car the sensors will be disabled and the deadlocks will come off. I usually do the latter because it's better when leaving dogs in the car (less of a problem if I lose the key and someone else has to try to open it)
