Weston Super Mare Meet No14: Sat 29th October 2011

Yerp it is that time of year again, for me to post up a thread for the Weston Super Mare Meet

Oh My God this is going to be the 14th WSM meet twice a year since March 2005. For the people who made that meet here is a link to the first one

I feel like changing the meet slightly this year, as the Pier is nice to look at at night, I plan for us to try and catch a sunset at WSM and then relax in a nice pub for an evening meal on the sea front.

This can also mean people who can't make the morning Cyder farms can tag along in the evening.

PLEASE NOTE: We are meeting at Bridgewater services at J24 M5 rather than the usual services at j19

OK here goes if people could aim to meet at Bridgewater M5 Services for before 10am to leave at 10:15am

We will then go raid the following Cider and Brandy farms.

Perry's Cyder - TA19 0NY

Burrow Hill Brandy Farm - TA12 6BU

Rich's for more Cyder and some Cheese - TA9 4RD

West Croft Cyder - TA9 4BE

and maybe if we have time a stop at Thatchers

Pub lunch Carvery booked for 1:30pm at the Nelson's Arms - BS25 5PW

After we have finished with the Cyder and Lunch I plan to head off to WSM seafront where we can relax and catch the sunset, after this I plan to shift us all to relax in the Claremount Vaults - BS23 2EE, looking out to across a stormy sea.

For people who have a bit of travelling there is caravans being booked for the Friday, Saturday and Sunday.

The cost is £190 for 3 nights (Friday, Saturday and Sunday) for a three bedroom caravan so the cost per person could be £32 for the whole weekend. If interested in booking a caravan for the weekend, please contact GillyWibble

cheers for the pm mate,

tis a real shame this is in the middle of my week and getting a Friday night off is like finding rocking horse poop on the livingroom floor. I will try get Sat and Sunday nights off to go with my Monday Rest day, IF so Ill leave work and sleep in the car till you get to the services and depending where you go from there first Ill tag along for a bit if your heading North then Ill have to go home to sleep :(

We've tended to stay a Brean Sands (IIRC) but I've never actually booked a 'van I've always dossed down in one someone else booked so I can't give you a price. It's out of season though and it's only a weekend so I don't think it's that much. I know a couple of people are talking about getting caravans though so you may be able to get a room with someone.

yes, we are staying at brean...

Brean's a lovely place, I was there in January

when it was deserted all but a few ramblers and birdwatchers.

It's like a second home to me, I was there all summer, every summer

from age 3 to 15. I still know the rocks at the base of Brean Down

like the back of my hand. I used to spend whole days exploring them

when I was young.

It's nice to be living so close to there now, very nearly bought

a house in Berrow just down the road.

The country lane that links Brean to Uphill is a fun bit of road.

Just watch out for the humpback bridge

The only thing I can see me not coming is a work 60th anniversary planned for the end of October. No sure plans have been made yet though.
