Roof boxes

Featured Replies

Farad an Italian outfit have some interesting boxes and deals currently with cheap carriage deals - a google search on farad coffre de toit should bring 'em up

This is just for info, a 320L open both sides 160 x 75(?) x 40 currently about £150 + delivery

Don't you always get what you pay for?

Look up the Auto Express magazine product tests for roofboxes. You'll find that most every year up to now a Kamei of some desciption has won. Hence me getting one and having never regretted it either. Eg:

Suppose you do, but the box is end of line and a considerable discount on the earlier summer price - depends on useage levels it bwould get!

True. But also consider some of the things they mention, and to name two: water tightness and ease of operation of the central locking (if indeed it has that). The latter can be a real pain with a fully laden box with a badly designed latch/lock mechanism.

My post was for interest only, the IWT trailer fits my bill, being dual height capable, and now also with a slightly dome solid(plywood) lid - the only prob with the trailer, ferry costs about £60 for a 2 way job!

Ah........ well I thought you were after buying one!

Try taking a trailer to Ireland! It is about £100 EACH WAY just for the trailer! So Ireland lost my holiday business when my parents came over as that was just daylight robbery. A 6,5m car (if there is such a thing) could go for the same price as a normal car yet my less than 6,5m Yeti + trailer had to fork out £200 more for a return trip!!! Madness.

Irish logic :S ?

Back to the box, it did look well produced with a reasonable thickness of wall - a local auto store had one on show in Quimper local to me, one of the French erks their indicated positive comments from buyers, as a result, I had a peek at their website thinking it may be of use to other box searchers.

I wouldn't blame this price on Irish Logic (actualy I kind of take offence to it) I think you might find the most of the ferry operators operating out of Ireland are mostly Internationaly owned, indeed I could be wrong but I think that Irish Continential which owns Irish Ferries is not actualy Irish. The companies seem to discount freight at the expense of motorists. Yet they all seem to make a profit as can be seen from the Irish Times March 2011: "The company, which owns Irish Ferries, secured a 61 per cent increase in pretax profits in 2010 following an increase in passenger numbers and the sale of one of its ships."

As a Country we are well worth a trip so don't tar us with comments like "Irish Logic" or we won't let you beat us at Rugby again.
