Ferrari F40 bites the dust.........what a plank

An interesting quote was that the crash might be down to the cars original tyres

I am sure that can be repaired.

Original tyres though!

Even if the tyres weren't 20 years old, he was doomed. I saw TV footage of these things spinning the wheels in the dry quite easily. Mr Mechanic put his foot down in 1st and wasn't ready for what was going to happen once the turbos came on boost.

oh dear lol

I think possibly it might have been caused by the mechanic going for a spinny in the customers cars when he shouldn't have.

Not the first time (or second or third) I've heard of mechanics writing off customers cars. Probably the most expensive one.

And they only valued it at £300,000. Try buying one for that.

Twonk.

I know someone who saw their pride and joy being ragged on a sandwich run. He was in the dealership bending the managers ear as the driver handbrake parked it in the yard having been assured the car was being worked on in the workshop and was safe.

Got his service and brakes done for free funnily enough!

:'( :(

Only time I have ever seen an F40 on the road was donkeys years ago at Lancaster Gate in London. The way it was popping and banging I think it must have been off about three plugs!

Ugly looking brute, too. I'd go for an F1 (so long as it hadn't been owned by Rowan Atkinson).

Just because the chassis is thought to be bent, doesn't mean it's a write off.

I'm guessing that it would make any normal car a write off, but I'm sure if it was required a new chassis could be fabricated and the good parts placed on it. That leaves the question of does it come in at less than the value of the car and that's not a low value.
