Worst courtesy car you have driven

Featured Replies

What I don't get is... even though you own a high performance car, the courtesy ones are always the bottom of the barrel 1.2's with less poke than a hairdryer. This was the case when I was without an Ibiza FR TDI PD for a month and had a 1.2 Ibiza to commute 90 miles a day in...............

I can relate to that. VRS was off to get a scape fixed and I got a 1.0 Polo followed by a 1.0 Corsa. Ok they were both new but overtaking is somewhat more interesting/terrifying than the VRS.

Also got a Chrysler Neon 2.0 which had the steering off by a 20deg.

Quite a few years ago I drove a 206 van which I thought was truly awful until the next day I got a Daihatsu Terios which was the worst car I've ever driven until SWMBO got her Tigra.

hyundai accent 1.5 3 cylinder diesel. Dreadful....utterly dreadful.

Not a courtesy car as such, but a couple of months ago i drove one of the works pool car's which was a 52 Plate Vauxhall Astra 1.7 Diesel and it was truly the worst car i have ever had the discomfort of being behind the wheel of.

Steering was totally numb and the brakes only seemed to engage when the pedal was pushed firmly against the floor. To be fair, the engine was quite torque'y though. All in all, a truly hateful car though.

Looking back, when i bought my first car it was a choice between a Focus and an Astra around that time period. With the benefit of hindsight I'm so pleased i went for a Focus...

Worst car by far is the Perodua Nippa many years back while my new at the time w reg corsa was in for an idle air control valve oh my days its awful...turns out my boss at the time bought one over the weekend so imagine his delight when i turned up in my Yellow number :giggle:

It was hideous to drive, crap on fuel for a 1.0 as you had to thrash it within a ball hair of its tin can engine to get anywhere!

I'll be picking up my courtesy car tomorrow, a 1.6CR 105BHP Fabia in..............Sprint Yellow B)

Peugeot 207 1.4 diesel I think it was and jesus lord was it slow !

It's even worse when you can not drive the courtesy car. Polo van from JBS of Chesterfield had a flat battery stranding me at a petrol station and losing a half day at work.

The worst car I've actually driven was an almost new Corsa 1.2l. It was so slow I was passed on both sides accelerating away from the traffic lights. I tried all combinations of revs and gears but it remained dangerously slow. Pretty comfortable though.

Worst one I ever had was a relatively new Smart Car. There was nothing wrong with it mechanically.

I had to drive it throught Milton Keynes and the body roll on all the roundabouts was appalling. Even at really low speeds I got the feeling that it might tip over and instinctively wanted to reach for the dash.

It makes me wonder how anyone could have a test drive and then buy one.

You don't test drive one of these, it is a fashion accessory bought over the phone, or on the internet. Anyone who would know to test drive a car first would have known to bought something else!
