Going from VRS SE to New VRS

Featured Replies

Got an email about the current 0% VAT & 0% APR from my dealer. Have been more than happy with my SE but this offer has tempted me :) Have been emailing a few dealerships to see if they can source a VRS for me preferably in White with White alloys. Should I just trade in or is it worth me selling the SE privately, bearing in mind that the deal finished at the end of September?

Appreciate any thoughts on this

I usually get a trade in price, then see if I can sell for a bit more.

If I fail... I still don't lose anything.

Sounds like a good deal - see if you can squeeze a bit more out of them :)

What did they offer you if you don't mind me asking?

I saw a White vrs with White alloys only today- they look amazing in my opinion. Still my favourite is the blue with black roof and black alloys! :)

Best of luck with your search :)

I wouldn't mind an se, if you go for it drop me a pm with details about your car and what you want for it.

I could sell my 'normal' vrs later, so wouldn't hold you up.

Cheers.

I haven't actually been offered anything yet for my SE, but I would assume the dealerships are going to come out with a story about a poor margin on the new car so thats why we can't offer a good deal on a PX - well thats the sorts of stories, I've had in the past :)

Is the offer basically get a brand new 'Stock' fabia Vrs for around £13,300?

I think it would be if you can source one with no extra options on it. One dealer has said he might be able to get a white one with black alloys & cruise control for just under 14K with the discount. TBH, that seemed a bit over priced to me

My local dealer (Devon) is offering me a VRS for delivery for September. They are offering an over allowance, but only a few hundred quid. All this talk of VRS stock being like hens teeth is rubbish from what I hear.....there are cars out there. I know Carrs in Truro also have a brand new VRS sat in the showroom with black alloys, black roof and Bluetooth. Ive been told that Skoda are on a massive campaign to shift more VRS models, hence the ads popping up again on TV and in press......I think they are making up the backorder situation as its bad to have your premier model for immediate delivery !!

They are good cars, but I'd want a long test drive and check the fuel consumption.

It may be a surprise after the diesel. Not an issue unless you do a lot of miles though.

I found it very capable, but ultimately less involving than the mkI.

my mileage now is a lot less so not so I could live with the consumption. There are a few around & some demonstrators too. I have used Autotrader to search, but wish there was an easier way to find them myself. I suppose ultimately the pool of cars will be available to all dealers so its just a case of who might give me the best PX deal as the finance side of it is set

The demonstrators are a very bad choice at the moment IMO. Frankly, I wouldn't want a car thats been thrashed from mile 1 by a 22 year old salesman. The demo prices are too high at the mo compared to new cars on offer. If a new car is about £13,500, making a decent priced demo a bit less, then what does that make your new VRS worth the day after you've bought it? Im thinking about £10,500. I know this the case with all new cars, but there is alot of changes in pricing of these cars at the moment, so im opting to wait till a few more used ones come up privately. Used VRS's around a year old will be available privately for about £10k soon......

I suppose the attraction is 0% APR over 2yrs with the 50% Deposit for me, not a choice with a private sale. I see a few low mileage ones at dealers online but some are looking for more than new RRP

Arnold Clark are advertising £14,415 for a new one but doesn't actually say if thats a std price before a potential 20% VAT saving. I have emailed them for more details - not my dealer of choice but its all about the money

If you are planning to keep the car its a really good deal, yes. Don't forget you get the servicing too free for 3 years if you take Skoda finance.

I was offered new car, in candy white, with black wheels and roof with cruise, mats and flaps, 12m tax, delivery etc for £14,300 all in - delivery anytime I wanted (physical built stock, brand new). The deal you quote sounds poor if its a billy base car.

Didn't realise about the servicing, but the 0% & 0% is a skoda finance offer & thats the potential dealmaker for me

They are taking the P. It's not a rare or hard to get car, so already ordered/registered should be cheaper.

As said, if they are demo vehicles every test driver will have wanted to check the performance on a new engine before they part with the cash...

0% finance if you are putting down 50% is not so good either IMO. Attractive, yes, but a cheaper car could be better.

The finance charges would not be that big if you are paying for half up front and the interest is only being paid over two years anyway. After a year they've already got 75% of the new value. It's hardly a risk for them.

Have you actually driven one mate? :wonder: If you havnt I think you will find it to be very diffrent.

In my view, there is some very nice things about the mk2 but as for driving experince it left me feeling very very very cold. As well as that I took it for a longer test drive and it would barely go above 35mpg the salesman thought I was mental because I wasnt booting it! As am 22 I think he was expecting me to have it on 2 wheels!!

Very happy to stick with the mk1 +1

Also I think they are rather expensive for what they are, in regards to rivals its priced keenely but it is each to there own.

No, i haven't driven one yet.

I was looking at second hand Octavia VRS TSI as well but it is a fair bit larger sizewise, any thoughts on that?

Octavia vRS is a great great car in so many ways, The fact that you are looking at a TSI means that am sure you wont be doing as much mileage. If thats a case well done mate you will be looking at car which is practically the same as the great golf gti, but with a better ride, alot more space and if I had to be shot I think it looks nicer to. It is the only other car I would look at if ever in the future my fabia goes, but I would be looking at the diesel vRS. Power delivery will be very diffrent to the fabia tho, although the TSI engine is plenty torquey you may miss that wonderful slug of power available in the fabia. Also rember that once worked hard for a bit of pace you will suffer with mpg (like most cars really) Insurance will also be alot more than the fabia I would guess, Tax is also higher. However if that doesnt matter in your lifestyle at the moment. Then good luck mate, I think if you drive both you will get the octy!

Its the GTI Petrol engine that sways me towards the Octy. Not bothered about TSI over FSI tbh & insurance wise (I'm 43) I was pleasantly surprised at the quotes , just under £300 which isn't that much more than i pay for the Fabia iirc

The dealer will offer you trade price...you shud get near retail..

no brainer.

Yeah was imagining around about £6-6.5K offered but worth nearer £8K especially with my mileage being so low

Its a good move - I went from a Black MK1 vRS to a White MK2 vRS Estate and have never looked backed... well, maybe just for the fuel economy but i'm not that bothered  I use V Power too so bit more expensive but it'll run better.

If you do less mileage i'd seriously think about it, handles better, better materials inside, kinda the way it should be when they release a replacement :) Only things that put people off as far I know are fuel economy and lack of manual gearbox.

Was your Mk1 std 130bhp or had you remapped it? Mine is running 188 bhp & 274 lbf-ft torque

Neither - it was a BLT engined one and had it dyno'd 3-4 times at different places with figures of 157.1bhp and 259lb/ft B) No need for a remap lol

My car previous to that was a mapped Ibiza FR TDI to 175bhp and 310lb/ft, my new vRS is defo faster than that.
