HOw do I know if my Skoda has DPF...

Featured Replies

Hi there,...

I just finish the worst 6 months of my life when it come to cars, i owned a 307 1.6 HDi, it was problem after problem..... after problem..... and the cherry on the top of all the problems was the Diesel Particle filter nearly lost the willing to live :).

Having done some research i decided to go for a 2006 Skoda Octavia 1.9 TDI Ambiente.

The car drive well and smooth and im very happy with it.

But while i was reading the manual i saw the words DPF(diesel particle filter) and suddently im having fllash back again.

Now my problem is the only skoda i found online similar to mine says the emissions are 130gkm but on my V5 say 138g/km

How can I tell if my 2006 Skoda Octavia 1.9 TDI Ambiente has Diesel particle filter?

And

Can I disconnect it or eliminate it?

thanks to all

I don't think the 1.9TDi has an DPF fitted

Definately no DPF on that engine

No DPF on that engine.

If you look in the owners manual, page 33 on mine, my car is similar age to yours, it explains how to tell if your car is fitted with a DPF.

If you look on the inside cover of the Service Schedule, you will see a vehicle data sticker.

The bottom line on the second column will either say 7GG or 0GG. If the latter, then you don't have a DPF.

Hope this helps.

The emissions of some of the Octavia models reduced due to revisons over the years. According to Parkers the 1.9 TDi 5 speed manual hatch started out at 143 g/km in 2004, then changed to 132 from Nov' 06, then fell again to 130 g/km from May '07.

That doesn't explain how yours is 138 g/km though, I can't see any 1.9 Octavia with a figure of 138 g/km. Parkers do occasionally get details like this wrong however.

Its probably not worth worrying about. If it turns out that your 2006 car should be 143 g/km rather than 138 your road tax goes up by one band. Or if it should be 132 g/km your road tax stays in the same band anyway - ie you have nothing at all to gain by getting it changed and possibly a bit to lose!

Mine is a 1.9 Tdi, 56 plate 2007 model. The V5 shows it as 138g /km as well. It's just cost me £115.00 for 12 months road tax.

Sounds like the 132 g/km that Parkers quote for an 06/07 car should perhaps read 138 then.

It certainly looks that way Nick.
