Seems crazy that the 'manual' wheel is 4,200 Kc but the DSG with flappy paddles is only 3,700 Kc. About £135?

Very tempting :giggle::thumbup:

Hope you dont mind me using this thread to post giscoyeti..

I too am planning to retrofit a 3spoke mfsw with paddles for my 2011 OCTAVIA II FL 140CR TDI DSG.

This is a part of my vcds scan.

After emailing alez from skodateile i ordered and have recieved the following parts

1)http://www.skodateile.cz/index.php?pg=product∏=279&menu=%C5%A0koda|Octavia%20II%28A5%29%20facelift

2)http://www.skodateile.cz/index.php?pg=product∏=326&menu=%C5%A0koda|Superb%20II

3)http://www.skodateile.cz/index.php?pg=product∏=182&menu=%C5%A0koda|Superb%20II

I have also found a skoda person who is willing to fit the parts..

Now for the doubts..

i) Are these parts sufficient or am i missing anything?

ii) Can anyone please help me with the coding to get the mfs and paddles to work?

iii) Should i expect any immediate or any long term problems after retrofitting the mfsw?

Awaiting all your expert opinions

I thought I'd check the price here in UK for the 3 spoke wheel with DSG paddles and contacted my dealer.

He came up with part No; 1Z0419091AKUYQ and a price of £389 inc VAT. I asked him to check if this was the plain wheel or with airbag and he confirmed 'plain wheel'. Eek and ouch!

I might just have to be contacting skodateile. :wonder: :mmm:

Very tempted to get DSG wheel but am nervous as there is nothing about on-line payment/security on Skoda Teile's website.

How did you pay? What shipping method did they use and how long did it take to get to you in Sweden?

Just a word of caution to all those changing their MFSW. You MUST tell your insurance company as it is a modification. My insurance company made me take Elsie the Helipad to my dealer to check it was all okay and then write to me saying it was okay, so i could then dend that letter to the insurance company, otherwise they were going to cancel my insurance. If a Skoda dealer had supplied and fitted it there would have been no problem.......

I suppose it would be OK if a Skoda dealer fitted a customer supplied wheel (knowing that it is an OE spec part) and I'd then have an invoice to show my Insurers.

Just then need to get the paddles activated by someone with VCDS afterwards.

Presumably no change in premium.

I would have thought that was okay. I was not charged any more premium. But I'm not an underwriter!

Payed to his bank account. When he received my payment he sended my goods. Took about 3 days to delivery. I'm totally satisfied! :)

Thanks.

I got an e-mail back from Ales to tell me this; perhaps I'm being over cautious but I've decided against buying from Skoda Teile, just not happy with sending money direct to an overseas bank account.

I have though ordered an Octavia vRS wheel with DSG paddles through my local dealer who will then happily fit it for me (even suggested he'd have a go at programming to get the paddles to work). I've then got a full invoice that I can show to my insurers.

This means that I will be selling my existing 3 spoke sports leather (smooth) wheel with radio/phone controls; look out for the listing in 'Cars Parts For Sale' part of the forum.

My dealer was about 10 times more expensive, so that was never an option. But Ales and Skoda Teile is totally safe doing business with, would gladly buy more from him :)

That rule you have with insurance company and modifications, it's not something we have here in Sweden, we can modify our cars as we like.

I am just about to order a new Yeti - what are the advantages of the 3 spoke steering wheel? It is a £150 option and am not sure whether to get it or not! Does it have more functions than the regular 4 spoke or is it basically an aesthetic choice?

it is basically an aesthetic choice.....depends if you like holding a 3 or 4 spoke wheel. Try a vRs Octavia and a standard Octavia 4 spook to see the difference.

The 3 spoke should have the flappy paddles according to me when supplied with the DSG...emoticon-0140-rofl.gif

That would at least give it some reason to exist. Yes come on Škoda: make the 3-spoke an option with flappy paddles from the factory please.

Expatman was thinking about the difference between the OE fit 4 spoke wheel and the factory option of the 3 spoke wheel; both of which have 'smooth leather'.

It is the OE fit Octavia vRS 3 spoke wheel only (as far as I know) that has 'perforated leather'; unless you buy it from SkodaTeile, Superskoda.com or your local Skoda dealer. ;)

Yep that is correct. Here is a picture of the wheel you get for your £150 as a standard Škoda option (it is Merlinman's):

Mind you the price of £155 is purely to trade from 4 spoke to 3 spoke on the Elegance that already has multi-function controls. It is said that 'less is more'! :giggle:

If you have an SE and want to got to a 3 spoke with radio controls it is £115 or a 4 spoke wheel with multi function controls for radio & phone (with bluetooth) the price is £340.

You can't though on the S or SE, as a factory option, get the 3 spoke wheel with multi function controls for radio & phone as a factory option; you can though get one here (shameless plug);- http://briskoda.net/forums/topic/213699-3-spoke-sports-steering-wheel-with-multi-function/
