Which engine?

Featured Replies

Hi guys

Replacing the engine on my Octavia 1.6 LX '97. Bought a used 1.6 AEE from a Felicia '96 but it appears to be a mismatch with my transmission. Clutch/flywheel housing impossible to bolt on to the Felicia engine.

Apperantly my transmission is the O2K-type (according to the Haynes manual describing the different transmission types).

Can I be sure that my engine is an AEE as the car is from '97 (engine never changed before ;) - and how do I make sure the next engine I buy will fit? I mean, can I only use Octavia engines?? (engine moutings were also a problem, but I guess that could be sorted out)

Thanks in advance

Morten

You could go BAM which is alot of work but a powerful engine otherwise and AUQ should be a direct fit??

You need to stick to an Octavia 1.6 engine! The clue really is in the title. You have an OCTAVIA but you got a FELICIA engine?????

Engine codes will be indicated on a lug found on the left hand side of the cylinder head.

A BAM (225hp) or AUQ (180hp) would be ridicules as everything would need to be replaced - wiring loom, exhaust, transmission, cooling, ECU etc. etc.

If you want more power you'll have to replace the car-simple!
