Any Iphone geeks out there

Featured Replies

Bit of a long shot this one. It's a bit hardcore for the average Iphone user hence the title lol

Too cut a long story short I have the data files i.e. Mobilesync/Backup fd87438cf1a9898 etc etc etc.

Which of course in windows is garbled junk, does anyone know of program that can read this data.

I always thought these were SQLite ? I know on a Mac you can get MesaSQLite for Mac OS X - Unsure if there is a windows version. Will have a little search for you now.

Edit - Mine field not having the best of luck.

Tell me about Rob !!

Me neither

I'm only really after the contacts tbh, proving extremely awkward. Not my Iphone I may add lol

Do the contacts not sync to the cloud somewhere so you can access them? Like Android and Windows phones? MobileMe was it?

iphone backups are encrypted, and without itunes and the login / password for the account you are going to be stuck.

if you have this then place the backups in the appropriate itunes folder and restore the phone.

Just use iPhone backup extractor. It's a program that is compatible with both windows and mac and allows you to explore the backup and extra anything from individual SMS to the full backup.

No requirement for passwords or logins

It has saved my bacon a couple of times when I've accdentally deleted messages etc

I was wondering when the genius would appear lol

Hows the Human cent Ipad going :giggle:

I think I got this covered by a bit of magic with the sync files and windows re-format, just waiting for the sim card as the phone won't sync with out one apparantly

Lol the Human Cent iPad is fine thanks. Uncle Steve is doing well too and Uncle Tim is getting to grips with being at the Helm. :giggle:

I would definitely recommend MobileMe or, once it's released, iCloud. I'm using iCloud beta at the moment after converting my MobileMe account across and it's awesome. I can backup and re - sync all my data, files, photos, contacts etc over the air.

It's going to be free as well for 5gb of data and then you just pay if you need more.

My trick worked, I used the Mobilesync files after the format and when I plugged the piephone a back up from june was there and all is good

I'll recommend that the fella uses mobile me which I saw mwntion of in Itunes, is it free Carl ???

MobileMe and iCloud which it will merge to with the release of iOS 5 will be free for 5GB of data and then paid if you want more.
