Windshield Wiper Fluid

Featured Replies

Hi there.

After about two months with my Octavia, I'm pretty satisfied, but there is one thing that annoys me: The windshield wipers and windshield fluid.

When I use the wipers to clean the windshield with some fluid while driving, the fluid spray gets all over front windows (even when car is stationary).

In previous car (Citroen C4) the windshield was a bit indented in the cars body, so the fluid didn't glide of to the front windows. In fact, if I didn't drive very fast, the fluid would drain to the lower part of the windshield, from the sides.

But in the Octy its just a big mess. When I clean the windshield with the fluid and then start driving, the fluid get splashed on the front windows. this means that I have to have the windows closed when using it, which I could live with, but it annoys me that the windows get sprayed, and then when it dries it make water marks on the windows. If I open the windows to try to get the water off of them, it gets worse.

My question is:

1) Is this the behaviour in your Octavias too?

2) Is there a simple mod I can do so that the fluid won't glide onto the front windows?

It seems like a design flop, as if no one at Skoda ever tested this to see how annoying it is.

thanks in advance.

Have a look on eBay, you should be able to find some wind deflectors which should help with your problem.

For the front windows? I don't think they are the problem. The problem is the windshield.

Does it on mine you could try to adjust the jets so it sprays lower down the screen.

You asked for a simple mod to stop the washer fluid getting on the front windows, the wind deflectors should do this. Can't get much simpler.
