Window Regulator Refit

The passenger side window regulator has gone on my Octavia 1 (1999 - T Reg) - bits of broken plastic guide everywhere. I have purchased a complete replacement (minus motor) from Euro Parts (thanks for recommendation from this forum) but I have a question about fitting that's not answered in any of the posted guides.

Before installing the motor (engaging the spur gear) does the motor have to be in any particular position. I. e do I need to connect it up and press the lower window button and wait for it to stop before installing it to make sure any stop sensors in the motor housing are set correctly or doesn't it matter?
